   A lovely afternoon tea with plenty to eat and regular tea top up. Friendly staff and able to cater for dairy intolerance. Thanks very much - we can't wait to visit again.

   Overall, quite good. It wouldn't have taken much - a few little details - to elevate this to highly recommendable. Still feels like a work in progress, and I can see they are making an effort. Certain parts of the meal were exceptional but a few little details here and there let it down. Service easily confused at times, but none of the delays that other reviewers complained about - everything arrived quickly. I'd definitely go again - it's conveniently located, very clean and pleasant, good for families and reasonable value - and next time I go, I'd expect it to have improved a bit

   We went for Sunday lunch for Mothers day and the whole experience was lovely. A piano played for a while and then a singer sang in the background which all added to the ambiance for the day.. The staff were very friendly and professional and the food was outstanding. Everything cooked to perfection and plenty of it. As it was mothers day the ladies were given free prosecco and a little gift when you left. . We will return again as it was all so nice.

   Little on the expensive side but everything else was great. Was quiet when we went but service was prompt and the staff were pleasant and courteous. Easy to access as its just off the main road with plenty of parking. Food was also top knotch, I can’t complain. It was also rather quirky with the big tree in the middle of the restaurant and prepare yourself for other patrons walking about in bath robes which may or may not be a good thing depending on how you look at it! 😂

   Ignored for 4 mins + at reception. Directed to another room from the one we had ordered. Pathetically slow service throughout Had to put in verbal request for Starters to be delivered. Likewise had to ring bar bell for attention for the Main course to be served. Not busy, so no excuse Distracted by customers in dressing gowns being served at greater speed Staff pleasant when they eventually arrived. Overall meal was 2 3/4 hours I have rarely spent so much money for so little satisfaction. Suitable only for dietary masochists

    This review is in two parts really, when we arrived the young chap that greeted us, showed us to our table, took the drinks order, served our first course and main meal, absolutely exceptional! No fault at all, extremely pleasant, friendly, helpful and attentive. I had bought a cake with me as was a special occasion, which he swiftly took off me and took into the kitchen. Now, that shift must of ended and the next set of staff really didn't seem to want to be there, waited a while for someone to take dessert choice, had to gesture a few times for them to come over, were not offered any further drinks and had empty glasses on the table. Payment also seemed difficult as myself and sister were splitting the bill. They did however bring out the cake, with the candles lit, but we had to ask for a knife and plates. So what started out so brilliantly, did go downhill. A bit disappointed on leaving. We chose The Bank House as it held memories for my parents when they first starting courting.

    Lovely ambience - although not at capacity the presence of a piano player throughout the evening gave a relaxed charm and comfortable feeling to the restaurant. Lovely meal, attentive service, nothing exotic but good value classic food.

    We ate a meal in The Garden Room during our spa trip. The service was excellent and the food was lovely with very generous portion sizes (especially the sides!) I would highly recommend.

    We went there a few months ago for lunch .. very nice lunch so decided to go for dinner, arrived 7.20 pm staff members showed us to our table with menu, 15 minutes later returned for our drinks order and take our food order’ we ordered a starter and I had a 10oz gammon my wife ordered the steak. 15 minutes later drinks arrived then another 10-15 our starter came. When our main meals came my 10oz gammon looked more like a 5-6oz the size of a rasher of bacon the egg was like rubber sent it back a fresh egg was added. My wife’s steak was overdone We was not very please so we will not go there again.

    Beautiful setting. Really enjoyed the live music and the food was absolutely gorgeous. Will definitely be going back. It was a wonderful way to end the Diamond Jubilee celebrations.

    Although the food was delicious and the manager welcoming, we were generally disappointed with the experience as a whole. We stayed as guests at the Bank House Hotel and, with the package we paid for, had a three course meal at the Garden Room Restaurant included. However, the meal did not take place in the Garden Room as it was under renovation and therefore we were sent to the 'sports bar' instead (a pub-like room with very little ambience, a local radio station playing and some seemingly inexperienced waiters who stood chatting amongst themselves at the bar next to our table). I asked politely about how long the renovation had been underway and later heard the waiters talking about me and what I'd asked at the bar. I didn't hear the whole conversation but that, along with the no smiles approach to service made me feel very uncomfortable. I understand renovations need to take place but, when booking my stay 3 months earlier, it would have been nice to be informed that the restaurant would not be open. Even a mention of this when we checked in wouldn't have gone a miss as we dressed smartly in restaurant appropriate clothes and felt very out of place in a pub with plastic sachets of condiments on the table. I like pubs but that is not what we paid for, the package wasn't cheap and if I'd been informed I would have ensured our stay took place before or after the renovations. To top it off, the waiter tried to charge us for the full meal at the end even though I'd noted on our reservation that we were staying at the hotel and the meal was included in the package! Mistakes happen (I used to be a waitress myself so I understand) but there was no apology and just a generally lack-lustre response when I came to the bar to correct the bill.

    We had an excellent Sunday lunch here. Service was extremely friendly and food excellent! One tiny criticism - only a small gravy boat came with the roast so had to ask for more, but that wasn’t a problem for the staff!

    Afternoon tea on Valentine’s Day was nice I would of given 5 stars if the tea was served on china plates and cups as photos on site showed. Staff very friendly and nothing was a trouble.

    Staff was phenomenal! I had misread the menu and chose a sandwich for dinner… was a room service item. However, they stated no problem and I had the sandwich. Didn’t want a large meal. My husband had the rump steak with mashed potatoes. He enjoyed his meal, as did I. Dessert was sticky toffee pudding and ice cream. Restaurant manager allowed me to try sample of honeycomb sweet.. very nice as I am not familiar with British foods. It was quite good and I know next time to order it. Overall an enjoyable evening spent with lovely people… restaurant itself allowed for social distancing. In today’s times that is a huge plus!

    Booked for carvery and Santa…. However no Santa due to covid and not advised. Hotel had left a message to call them but you can’t get through so disappointed 5 year old. Food was very poor, over cooked vegetables, undercooked meat, drinks limited choice. Would avoid

    Excellent food and superb service. We were a group of 6 and all meals came out with no issue and all were cooked extremely well, great meal. Serving staff were lovely really welcoming and polite. We had a great night.

    Very good sharing platters but choice of main courses very poor and quality mediocre. Service very slow but staff were inexperienced and disinterested. Breakfast staff were very good, helpful, prompt and motivated. They were working very hard. Buffet was very limited and no availability of food to order as shown on website. Quality just about acceptable.
