   Went for breakfast. Really pleasant surroundings, service with a smile, high quality produce. Comfortably accommodated my wife’s food allergies. Would definitely recommend and will go back again.

   Great sunday lunch. Loved the extra gravy, yorkshire puddings and roast potatoes - that was really nice gesture and the Yorkshires were amazing.

   The team were nice and starters were excellent. But we were disappointed with main lamb and beef the vegetables were hardly cooked. We think the kitchen may have been busy. We were a bit disappointed spending > £70 on this.

   Starters were great, but the mains were indifferent. Love the ambience of the place but there were not enough staff and we left without dessert and my glass of red wine because we waited so long for someone to return to serve us. Shame.

   I like The High Field - good food, good service and a nice ambience. Last night they seemed low on wine and whisky stock - hopefully that's a sign of strong trading over the festive period rather than poor stock management.

    Miso glazed fish with udon noodles was poor - across presentation, smell and taste. With hindsight as it’s a gastro pub would have gone with something more traditional/basic on the menu as a safer option.

    Popped in for an impromptu lunch. Not eaten properly here for ages. Very impressed with, excellent food, and good quality drinks. Service was a little slow but extremely friendly. Lovely surroundings too. Will definitely return.

    I went to Highfield for Christmas Jazz Breakfast - atmosphere was good and service was reasonably quick. There was a minor error on food but they rectified it straight away and they dealt with it polite friendly yet professionally. They are run by truly good management and staff. It is always great to eat out there. My only minor criticism is, portion size and lack of fresh green salad - because of the price, I would expect a bit more on the plate. (just adding a bit of salad leaves and a bit of tomato or sliced onion would be nice ) Still it is a good place to eat and I am definitely going back there without doubt.

    I visited with my mother who has difficulty walking so needed to walk very slowly to our table. There was no host at reception when we arrived but we were greeted and checked in in the end by a friendly member of staff. Unfortunately, the staff member rushed ahead with menus to our table without talking to us, hence only leaving in her wake. She did eventually notice and suggested a suitable table, which I agreed to. This could have been a much more personable experience with more interaction - a little chat - a ‘getting to know you’ - as it was not at all busy. When I touched the table it felt sticky- and similarly on a previous visit the table was sticky to touch - meaning they tables are not wiped down properly after use. The food was very tasty and the portion size’s reasonable, but a little more information and advice on the dishes would have avoided me having to wait for a separate side order of vegetables to go with my fish of the day which was served with boiled new potatoes and rocket. The desserts were tasty but after asking for the dessert menu we seemed to have been forgotten and I had to find menu myself to place our orders as there appeared to be only the one member of staff waiting tables. The restaurant is layers out very nicely with lovely decor but overall the experience could easily have been better with more attentive service and standards.

    First time visit for Sunday roasts and we were not disappointed. Good selection of main courses and additional sides including a really excellent cauliflower cheese. Delicious desserts too. This is obviously a very popular venue for families, hence a little noisy, but cheerful!

    Our second visit to High Field and we were just as delighted. This time our server was Rachel and she was superb; very friendly and attentive. I love how they come round with extra potatoes and Yorkshires! First class service and very prompt in a wonderful ambiance. This has easily become our favourite place to eat.

    Food was very poor. Limp salad, cold burger, salted cod (not asked). We refused to pay for two of the meals but no attempt to appease us, apologise or explain. We won’t go there again

    Overall good but three specific things that let down the experience: Firstly, the table was sticky from drink/food residue. This issue is common and I find it truly unpleasant (and unnecessary) to sit at a dirty table - please wipe down tables thoroughly after every sitting. Having worked in restaurants myself I know how this element can be skirted over, particularly if the restaurant is busy and tables need to be turned quickly. Unfortunately this is how a sticky residue builds up. Secondly, our order wasn’t taken down correctly and one guest had to wait for his dessert while the rest of us ate ours. This might have been avoided if the order had been repeated back to us for clarity and confirmation - another basic that should not be skipped. Thirdly, the Tarte Tatin was disappointingly small and slightly tough, being comprised of a (re-baked?) croissant instead of the usual crisp puff pasty. On a positive note, the food, in general, was very good and the toilets were clean, well stocked and stylish - a good sign that usually suggests similar standards in the kitchen. I shall be returning in the not too distant future.

    Food was below average what we'd expect from cheap pub, one meal overcooked fries and the other undercooked frozen chips overall not great meal. Service was slow and disappointing does not match previous visit for sunday dinner. Won't be returning in a hurry
