The Ivy Brasserie, Spinningfields
Impressive building & decor. Some of the staff are nice but there are too many chiefs on Reception as we encountered. We were not allowed to take our birthday balloon to our table! Jobsworth decision! It was busy with a very 'Manchester' night club ambience with music too loud. Not a relaxing experience to eat but some people would probably like it.
I may go again & try another day for a quieter more relaxed dining evening. The food was very good!
I feel I was a little disappointed the food was excellent but I was not a fan of how the tables was crammed In. It was very hard to get in and out of your seat if you was on the back seti g if the people on the next table was eating they had to stop to allow you pass. Didn’t really like I could hear the whole conversation of the next table as was so close.
Feel that was a let down part as the food and service was excellent . And I felt that how we was crammed in spoilt the atmosphere I was also a bit shocked to see people walking about with ripped jeans and trainers not really the standard I was expecting .
We were treated extremely well by the staff direct. Unfortunately we had major problems trying to amend an original booking via Open Table. It allows an amendment but all it does is cancel the original booking but doesn't confirm new request. I rang direct and it was sorted immediately.
There was only one issue and that was with regard to the batter on the fish. It was really soggy and we wondered if that was normal.
If so I would never order again.
Also I think there should be more choice of steaks on the menu.
Thanks for a very good but not great evening
All members of our family group of four were very pleased with our late Sunday lunch in The Brasserie. The restaurant itself is beautiful and the food and service were excellent. The menu is extensive and we were really spoilt for choice. We are now looking forward to our next visit.
We went for my birthday on Sunday. We were shown to our table, which are quite close together. As I am heavily pregnant I was a bit conscious squeezing past people eating to get to my seat though I did like the pillow for my back. We ordered bread while we looked at the menu, there was only 2 slices left when we were finally brought the oil and vinegar. We ordered our food and waited some time for the starters. I ordered a Diet Coke which didn’t come and the waitress had to be reminded. He didn’t arrive to the main meal. The starters came and were delicious, couldn’t fault the food at all. I then popped to the bathroom which is on the second floor, back out through the front which isn’t great and takes some time. Whilst I was gone the main meals where brought out (which was literally 5 minutes after we finished the starter) my husband wasn’t happy that they had left my meal on the table while I was at the bathroom. Again it was tasty. Dessert was equally as good. My husband then seemed to be waiting around for something and eventually told me he had informed them it was my birthday. We had seen several tables around us recieve birthday treats. I told my husband is was fine and we asked for the bill. We paid and got up to leave, as we did another waiter who wasn’t ours, said to my husband oh you didn’t get your thing for your birthday and my husband said no she didn’t and it’s too late now. This waiter was very apolgetic and did wish me a happy birthday. The food was value for money and the decor is beautiful. The waitress was pleasant however the service was not the best for a special birthday meal.
The Ivy did not disappoint. It has a fantastic atmosphere, the food was magnificent and the surroundings are stunning
Have already made our next reservation and can’t wait to go back.
Didn’t like the wine glasses - very short stem on the glasses
Tables too near each other
Would not recommend it to anybody visiting Manchester
Uniform of doormen was horrendous
Brilliant new addition to Spinningfields the whole place looks great and lovely to dine it.
Food was spot on and a great choice on the menu
what a lovely place, really nice staff, very helpful, great atmosphere.
the food was lovely and very well presented.
the décor was amazing even in the toilets, really nice.
the Ivy beer was very nice, but we would have preferred draft beer
Overall a good experience slightly disappointing that the table was not ready for 40 mins. Little communication from Front of house a complimentary drink would have been good use of service recovery..
During our wait we had purchased 2 rounds of drinks which aren't the cheapest.
This was fed back to the Manager however no acknowledgment or service recovery offered in terms of the bill.
We had a fantastic time great atmosphere actually felt like I was in London. The staff where wonderful best service in a long time.
A good atmosphere, the restaurant is beautiful inside. It was very busy and extremely noisy. The food was very good however, would I rush back - probably not as there are better restaurants in Manchester and have already been to two other Ivy’s down south and the menu was exactly the same.
Overall a really enjoyable experience, the place was buzzing.
Food was spot on without being pretentious.
Service was efficient, but for me just too many staff, which meant a bit disjointed in terms of where we were at with our meal. I am sure this place will go from strength to strength
I have been to the main Ivy in London and last year went to the newly open one at Tower Bridge this new restaurant in Manchester looks to be every bit as good, I wish you well and shall look forward to coming again , its so nice to have personal service and have staff happy to serve.
loved their jackets
What a place! When I booked I mentioned it was a triple birthday celebration. The staff were attentive as soon as we arrived and congratulated the 3 of us for our birthdays. We were shown to out table and our waiter was charming and polite. We weren't rushed and our every need was catered for. The birthday patisserie was a lively touch. We were made to feel very welcome and special. Cannot fault the food. We all had something different and we all enjoyed it. The staff were helpful and friendly. We will definitely be back
Absolutely fantastic. Food was great. Drink are amazing. Staff are friendly, helpful and we'll presented. Can't wait to go again.
I was pleasantly surprised. The food was great and the ambience was cool for a Saturday Brunch they had a DJ playing great chilled tunes
Nice place but service was very slow. Food good . Not a regular location
Great atmosphere, a bit too noisy, affordable and and the portions are good. Definitely will choose Ivy over 20 stories.
Best dessert I’ve ever had! Atmosphere was amazing. Only thing I would have changed were the chips which came with my meal. I think they may have been double fried so it tasted like I was eating crispy air. Rest of the food and drinks were top notch. Will definitely be returning.
A thoroughly enjoyable evening in a restaurant with quality food and excellent service
Lovely first time experience will definately return
Lovely venue, great food but the drinks are rather pricey.
Had booked for a birthday treat in the roof top area but a fire meant we were seated downstairs which didn’t disappoint. The service was fab and the cost for lunch was really reasonable. We both had duck for our main and it seriously was the best duck ever. Champers was only £9.95 a glass and a large bottle of San P water £3.50. Couldn’t fault it from start to finish.
Excellent service and ambience. The staff are all very efficient and very smart. The main which was fish and chips was ok - my only criticism was that the batter was soggy and not crispy, however the chocolate bomb dessert and apple tart were delicious. Looking forward to our next visit.
We came for breakfast and the food was great, the staff were very friendly and nothing seemed a chore. We will definately be going back and have told all our friends to visit 😁
Incredible service and amazing food, will definitely be returning!
I think our waiter was called Rodger and he was very helpful, thank you!
Amazing food, great staff only down side is that the tables are so close together you are involved in everybody’s conversations and struggle to have a private conversation
Cakes were a bit of a let down, looked too good to eat but tasted average.
Great all round! If I had to criticise, it would be the 12.5% service charge. I think that is a little excessive!
We went to have an anniversary meal mid week. We have been to the Ivy in Harrogate and really loved it there. Unfortunately our experience wasn’t the same. We found the restaurant to be cold and we ended up having to move tables. When the food arrived it was Lukewarm and trying to get the waiters attention didn’t happen so we just sat there and ate it. I had fish and chips and was offered mayonnaise to accompany it. When the bill arrived I was charged £2.75 for this! We appreciate that it is a new restaurant for Manchester and is in its infancy but at the moment would not return. We have spoken with other friends who have said the same about their food being lukewarm
My friends and I had a great time. Our waiter had a great personality. The receptionists were so lovely and accommodating. Food was amazing !!! Will definitely be coming back !!
Lovely. Just like the one in London. Great service and really nice food. Definition recommend.
Friendly, attentive staff, impecable service, stylish decor & an extensive menu. Food was very well presented. We felt relaxed & well looked after.
The service and food was amazing. I would definitely return.
It was amazing from start to finish.
Visited on my 60th birthday. Was a wonderful experience, food ,wine and service excellent. Couldn't fault a thing, made to feel special on this milestone. Will certainly recommend and return.
Had a lovely afternoon tea in the Brasserie..Hosted by Jeff our waiter.... Food was lovely.. (Just use a bit more brown or granary bread on the sandwiches) .... Scones delicious and amazing desserts. Reasonably priced for the venue.
Jeff was lovely .. Attentive, chatty and uber friendly.. Nothing was too much trouble...
All the staff were lovely...
The decor is stunning.... Great atmosphere and Comfortable seating...
Had a lovely Sunday afternoon lunch
Waitress very very attentive! felt a little rushed, however, she was very polite and took the hint that we were in no rush to order
Second visit and will definately go again 🙂🙂🙂🙂
Having visited The Ivy in London’s West End numerous times we were expecting a very similar experience, The decor & atmosphere was a delight however we did have a few complaints about some of the food (Cold/Stale) which were rectified, our waitress was extremely pleasant, but we did notice not just @ our table but quite a few surrounding us that courses were arriving literally simultaneously or with a prolonged delay!
Some of the staff seemed like fish out of water...
Despite all of this we would go again in time, (should it re-open after the tragic fire) as we felt the negatives were down to inexperienced staff & teething problems, we recently visited their Harrogate Restaurant & it was a total dream, so hopefully Manchester will re-open & re-train/staff.
