The Ivy on the Square
Sat at the bar. The bartenders were hospitable and engaging. Great service and Great Shepherd’s Pie. The hostess held a seat at the bar as there were no slots open for an earlier reservation.
The food was good the interior was fine , but the noise level was way too high and made conversation difficult. We were told we had 25 minutes to vacate the table , which I found , not good , but understand they needed to get more people in , but I didn't like it ,and will not be in a hurry to go back.
On the pricey side but Good food & service and very good location
We had lunch here on a Friday and it was great! Service was good and so was the food. They do a good value set menu which was delicious - also good for gluten free.
Loud. Food fair. No sides.
Food poor to average (dishes and cooking seem stuck in the 1970s), pleasant enough service and atmosphere. Overall the poor quality of the dishes combined with unjustifiably high prices mean I won’t go back
Very good service, setting and great meal. Worth paying ‘a bit more’ for.
Food was delicious and service great too! 2nd visit and already planning the 3rd.
Had a lovely breakfast for my daughters birthday. Service was excellent. Will visit for lunch. Very nice touch with bringing 3 lovely cream and raspberry tart with a candle for her.
Good restaurant, setting was lovely & the food was good but nothing to shout home about. The pate to start was delicious, my partner had the rib eye which was good but not a patch on the Hawksmore across the road. The creamed spinach was poor. A nice meal but not memorable and probably wouldn’t return in a hurry.
Food is very good quality. Except spinach is horrible. So weird that it was recommended by our waitress. She also never heard of a Moscow Mule.
Made the reservation 10 days ago but were seated next to the entrance. Had to ask my coat because the draft was ice-cold. Look elsewhere, it seems there are so many nice restaurants. This one is just ice-cold.
Service was very attentive
Such a lovely meal the decor the service the food the cocktails EVERYTHING WAS AMAZING cNt wait to come back and sample more delights!!!!!
Beautiful breakfast and extremely good value for money, highly recommend!
Food and service was very good. However the restaurant was very cold.
We visited The Ivy Edinburgh for a date night on Sat 8 June. The food was tasty but lacking finesse on the presentation side. I assumed the chefs had to follow the chains standards but a small personal touch would make a difference. All the flavours were amazing and the crab linguine was well executed. My husband had veal steak with mushroom sauce and he enjoyed it a lot. He's a fine dining chef very hard to please! I'd personally say the food is quite overpriced. Service was excellent. Special shout to Marta with short hair, very pleasant and attentive, great customer service and the conversation at the right level. Also, the manager on duty was lovely too, very polite and gracious. The restaurant was very noisy but we loved it. The interiors are beautiful.
Absolutely loved our meal on Saturday was so relaxed & chilled food was outstanding service was amazing we sat for a good few hours having food and drink didn’t feel rushed at all was absolutely amazing couldn’t fault a single thing
Our waiter was extremely attentive but not in a way that was disturbing. Fabulous and wish I lived in Edinburgh to go more
Have been to the Ivy in Edinburgh a few times, each time has been excellent, this time, the waiter did not smell very nice (obvious BO) and I asked for condiments that never arrived. The food was good and because we’ve had great experiences previously, we probably will be back but this time, it was a disappointment.
Beautiful food and the service was very attentive.
Birthday treat for my mother in law
Exceptional food outstanding service will definitely book again
Overall we had a lovely time - great atmosphere, lovely surroundings and attentive staff.
Our food order had quite a few mistakes but were rectified quite quickly.
I would recommend to others.
Lipstick on wine glass - food okay, but nothing to rave about.
Amazin wonderful food table was fab rite next to window service was fast and delightful.
We were well welcomed into the restaurant and service was great.
We had afternoon tea at The Ivy and highly recommended it! The food was delicious and the atmosphere was great!
Our visit was amazing, will definitely come back.:... the food was absolutely amazing!
Was a lovely dining experience and the food was excellent. I was surprised to see small children so late in the evening.
Great food, ambience and service outstanding. We were served by Joshua Long he looked after us very well but not overbearing. Will certainly be back and will highly recommend to our family and friends somewhere to enjoy good meal in relaxed atmosphere.
We have only experienced dining from the lunch menu. We had the set menu which included a good variety of food options.
Waiter was friendly and polite
Very nice place to have dinner. Food was good, not ultimately fantastic. Tuna starter was drowned in too much vinaigrette, fries could have been crispier. Sea bass very nice.
Service very attentive, although we would prefer a bit less 'stiff'.
Couldn’t fault the service and food, although my husband thought the fish batter was very greasy. Very special meal for a big birthday bash and the staff even made me a mini cheesecake with a candle on it.
Lovely! The pork dish was beautiful and the chocolate bombe an exquisite experience!
I find having to pay extra for sides when choosing your main dish, is unacceptable. I feel all main dishes should have one side dish included, which if you decide you don't want then you should pay for another side. Also, having a service charge of 12.5% included in your bill automatically is unacceptable, and removes the customers ability to reward or otherwise, good or indifferent service. In this instance, the service was good.
I thought the person who served us was very helpful , pleasant and made us feel very relaxed . The food was really nice , I could not fault it . I had the Monk fish and prawn curry , I would definitely recommend it . My wife had the chicken Milanese and she equally enjoyed it . I thought the gin and tonic At £9.50 was expensive but I'm not sure if this was a large measure or not
The service and food at the Ivy are excellent and you are pretty much guaranteed an enjoyable dining experience. We on a Sunday and ate from the Brunch menu which has something for everyone and a good range of G&Ts.
Enjoyed our lunch, everything was presented beautifully and was tasty, apart from Husbands main course, which was the swordfish, it was tasteless. Service was excellent.
What a delightful place! Stylish, sleek, yet comfortable. The walls are splashed with vibrant art, the table arrangements interesting, the food excellent, and the staff top-notch. Great location. Excellent value for the money. We'd go again in a heartbeat!
Had a good meal on Saturday 1st June
Very friendly and attentive staff
Quite a noisy area at the front but overall a place we would return , also easy to book on line
A very enjoyable evening. Excellent service from our Italian waiter (Alessandro?). Good menu choices and wines. Delicious fillet steak.
Wines pricey but thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the ambience. Would definitely return when next in Edinburgh.
