The Ivy Roof Garden, Spinningfields
Myself and my husband ate in the Brasserie on a busy Saturday night. On our arrival we could not even get a drink at the bar. There were seating, which was taken, all around the bar with no space to actually order a drink. We were forced to go upstairs to the Asia bar which was similarly lacking space to enjoy a drink. When we were seated in the Brasserie the tables either side of us were far too close. The lady on the next table stood up and as she squeezeed through the tiny gap in between the tables she almost took half the contents of our table with her! I had ordered the fish and chips but the batter on the fish was soggy and the chips were over cooked and totally tasteless. My husband had the chicken bourguinon which was just ok! On receiving the bill I asked for the service charge which is added to the bill, to be removed due to the poor quality of the food. The waiter very kindly removed the cost of the fish and chips. All in all the evening was a let down from start to finish.
Very noisy & felt a little intrusive with closeness of tables (brasserie) food ok and generally good service apart from having to finish up & leave due to table required back, overall ok.

The food is average but the service is great and the room is beautiful. Unfortunately it was almost impossible to chat to friends..there were 6 of us..as the music was FAR too loud. This woukd most certainly put me off returning
Food was ok, noise levels were horrific, do not go here for a romantic meal! A service charge of 12.5% for a table of two irritated me. I would perhaps go again for lunch but that's about it. Over-hyped and it's just style over substance. Not for me.
Booked Roof Garden due to the fire changed to The Ivy Asia which was fantastic food, service and atmosphere. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. I have booked this again for my Anniversary.

The restaurant and the fixtures and fittings are stunning. The staff are pleasant and attentive. We had the champagne afternoon tea. Although enjoyable, I felt that it wasn’t good value. Once the price of the champagne was deducted we’d paid approximately £16 each for 3 very small sandwiches, 3 very small cakes and 2 small scones with a cup of tea. However, the truffled chicken sandwich was gorgeous. This is available on the main menu with chips so it’s probably better value to order this with a desert and a glass of champagne and not be left feeling hungry afterwards.

The service and ambience was fab! However after 2 emails stipulating I’m allergic to fish in regards to my afternoon tea booking was assured all would be catered for on the day. Unfortunately it was not there was fish on the sandwiches which let it down slightly. I did re email but heard nothing back. So sadly customer service afterwards is clearly lacking. What a shame!!!
Amazing food and amazing service!
My boyfriend and I spent our second Valentine’s Day at the ivy. We were really excited and it did Niro disappoint. The food was outstanding as was our service from Lewis. He was fabulous and we will definitely be coming back after receiving such a high level of customer service.
Fantastic atmosphere just think the food could have been better. The fish curry had two unknown items in it that were inedible .
We also got told you did a Sunday lunch menu which was dissapointing.
I originally booked for the roof garden, however due to the fire, I knew this would no longer be possible. I wasn't however contacted re this and when I called, I was advised that my reservation hadn't been changed - someone had been trying to contact me apparently? A table was then reserved for the brasserie at a later than scheduled time. This was fine and we had a great time.

Booked in for afternoon tea a month in advance. Confirmed my booking 2 days before through open table and I rang up to make sure the reservation was for afternoon tea. I was told that my booking wasn’t there and that open table doesn’t work properly with the restaurant. This was 2 days before my booking so there was no extra availability for tables. After a heated discussion with the woman on the phone-who was actually very rude-and 10 minutes on hold, they managed to sort me out a table for 3.
On the day, the staff couldn’t be better but when I checked in, I was told that I had 2 bookings! The woman on the phone obviously didn’t know how to use the system or just hadn’t bothered to check, causing me unnecessary stress and wasted my time.
Other than that, the food was wonderful and the staff were attentive despite the crazy busyness of a Sunday afternoon
Excellent modern restaurant, clearly very popular as it was very busy. Food and service was very good. A very enjoyable experience, will definitely go back.
We did not actually eat on the Roof Garden because of the recent fire but we were very quickly contacted and, with our agreement, moved down to the Brasserie at the same time and day. We had brunch and the food was very good. After a previous visit I, and apparently a lot of others, complained about the service - but this time it was very good (thank you Lauren). Hopefully they have taken note of the previous adverse comments. Thoroughly enjoyable experience. Will certainly go back. The only thing that let it down was the music -if that is how it can be described - the monotonous, headbanging noise that might be OK for a nightclub but not an upmarket restaurant populated with a more 'mature' age group.
Food took 1hr 30 minutes for two medium rare steaks
Great food and service, very friendly staff, reasonable value and a beautiful restaurant.
Due to the fire our table hadn’t been rebooked so on arrival there was a bit of a faff to see if they could still seat us. I’d booked it as it was our anniversary and wanted it to be special so had requested a nice table when booking the reservation. We got sat next to a family with unruly children that continued to knock the table and dance about, even painting their nails. I know this isn’t the fault of the restaurant but no one seemed to try and see if we might want to move.
Our waitress started off great and was friendly and polite. The starters came quickly and were lovely. It all went a bit down hill from there. Somehow our mains weren’t ordered and we were left waiting for an hour between courses. People kept coming to the table and saying ‘4 more minutes!’ Which was a blatant lie! Another couple sat on the other side of us, ordered, eat three courses, paid and left before our mains arrive. It was infuriating to say the least.
To be fair they offered us free deserts and coffees but by this point there wasn’t much they could do to rectify the awful service we’d had.
It’s a shame as the food and restaurant itself was beautiful. I would try it again as I think it was a case of wrong place and wrong time. Hopefully have a better experience next time 🙄

Had a phone call to say due to a fire we were being moved from the roof garden to the brassiere which was disappointing as the reason I had booked this restaurant was because I liked the idea of the roof garden. Would of been nice to be offered a drink as compensation for this maybe.
Liked the ambiance and had a posh feel about the place but unfortunately the food didn’t match that.
Overall a very good experience. Enjoyed the food and the service to start. The second waitress we had however was very cold. Snatching cutlery and plates from people and using one word answers with no smile. Just didn’t feel happy to be there and happy to be serving us!

Unfortunately when we arrived we couldn’t sit in the roof garden due to the fire. We hadn’t been notified of this and we received an email the day before asking if we was still attending our reservation so we presumed the roof garden was back open. We was given a table in the brasserie and unfortunately my husbands steak had to be returned twice. Burnt in the outside and rare and bloody on the inside. He had asked for medium-well with no blood. He ended up not eating as it put him off. Then when the bill arrived they still added a 12.5% service charge. I absolutely would not of willingly give a 12.5% service charge after our experience and wasn’t very happy but to be honest we just wanted to leave at this point.
The Ivy it’s self is beautifully decorated but the food was poor unfortunately.
Beautiful place, they contacted me following the fire to move our reservation to the brasserie. Service and food exceptional. Ladies - go to the loo on the second floor it’s beautiful
Drinks way too expensive and I wasn't asked if I wanted to pay the service charge which was nearly £8 and I would not have given that much as a tip.
Beautiful restaurant shame about the noise levels.
When going out for a meal u require subtle background music.Nor head banging music that you are unable to speak.
On the whole the food was good,felt it was overpriced for the standard of food you got.
The chicken bourgiyon was just terrible smoked chicken,over cooked placed on gravy with mashed potatoes slopped on and a few mushrooms thrown in.
We visited for our wedding anniversary on Thursday evening and although it is beautiful inside it was just so busy you couldn’t hear yourself speak so it spoilt the experience for us and left us feeling disappointed. I wouldn’t rush back.
Loved it here! Everything was perfect, the food was tasty, the service was fast friendly and natural too. The whole place looks gorgeous.
