The Ivy Roof Garden, Spinningfields
We were very impressed and it was surprisingly good value for money too.
Was on fire so couldn’t go so not sure if it would have been a good idea to turn up
Written a lengthy negative review twice regarding booking issues as a result of the fire... both had errors uploading and disappeared.
Lets see if this simple comment has any problem uploading.
The place was literally lit, as in on fire 😂 it was on fiiiiiiiiiiiire
It was average, bit overrated but the bread was fresh and had a nice texture to it. Service was alright... had to ask to be served etc. Sat at the roof top and was seated right next to a fire pit which was quite uncomfortable. Bought a birthday cake hoping to celebrate and was told "we can present but can't eat it at the table" nor did they have the option to help us store the cake, especially being sat next to so much heat. Luckily the cake wasn't made from cream.
Great service and great vibes in the roof garden, food was some of the best I’ve eaten. Will definitely be visiting again.
Worst meal I have ever had!! The food is shocking bad, nothing tasted fresh and I refused to pay, one up from frozen birds eye food!
Good service and food
Great food, gorgeous restaurant! Lots of vegetarian options and not too expensive. Delicious cocktails too.
Very nice experience overall, staff very helpful and friendly . Lovely decor and will definitely going again. My new fave place😄
The Ivy is a beautiful gem in Spinningfields .
In the evening , it is lively and fun . The evening meal and service in the rooftop restaurant were excellent. The ladies toilets are stunning!
During the day , I could see much more details in the beautiful decor . The Asian level floor is green and stunning which so could not see in the evening as it was so full.
Rooftop lunch excellent.
Thought waiting staff needed more induction before embarking on the real job.
We noticed we had been charged for items we hadn't ordered but bill came back as more than original as the waiting staff had got it wrong in the first place - personally I felt wrong to "up" the bill!
From the moment we entered, we knew it was going to be extravagant. The service was top notch and the facilities were excellent. It would have been more convenient to have the toilets on the same floor as were on the rooftop. Overall it was a beautiful atmosphere and i’m glad we have it in manchester.
Lovely atmosphere. Tables a little small, if it was full I can imagine it feeling very full on and perhaps even a little claustrophobic. Really nice Decor. Excellent waiter Tom, not seen staff members as attentive and kind in Manchester for a while. Excellent job. Bit of an issue with the starter, steak tartare, lee and Perins came out a little quick and ruined half the dish. If we were checked on throughout the starters this could have been rectified sooner so instead they removed from the bill very generously which was kind. Seems like drinks were over priced £40 for a bottle of prosecco... would have stayed longer if that wasn’t the case.
Will be returning but perhaps for lunch and no occasion.
Nice atmosphere, waitress was lovely. Food was OK, not great, not poor.
Beautiful place. Excellent service. Very good food.
Perfect in every way!
NYE rooftop restaurant. 6 of us. Service was good but not 100% yet, will get there in time. Food was lovely got the lobster for main. Ambience very nice, I am looking forward to trying the different floors.
With it being NYE, we were really looking forward to a nice evening at The Ivy. Can’t fault the staff for their customer service in resolving issues however preventing the issues in the first place would be more beneficial. I noted the following issues;
1 The rep sat us at a “wrong” table and had to subsequently ask us to move to another table.
2 The table we moved to was crammed in between two other couples so we could hear every single conversation they had as well as feel physically very close to them.
3 Ordered bread for starters, however one main came out after us only being in the restaurant for around 10 minutes, the starter still hadn’t arrived and it took at least another two minutes for my partners main to arrive, the starter then came out with no room on the table for all the plates/glasses that were now out.
4 Had to ask for our sides as waitress/waiter didn’t bring them out with the main.
5 No one asked if I’d like sauces etc with my meal.
6 Our orders kept being took to the next table and vice versa.
All in all, I feel that Ivy considered their profits to be more important than the customer experience and therefore I didn’t particularly enjoy myself when in fact it should have been a nice, relaxed evening.
I certainly wouldn’t be in a rush to come back.
Dinner for 4 New Year’s Eve. Highly recommend from being welcomed upon entering, all staff food & drink choices ambiance of the roof top restaurant, washrooms value for money
All 5 Star
Whatever the occasion or just a cocktail at the bar. You cannot Fail to have a perfect experience.
We will visit again.
Well done The Ivy.
We visited on New Year’s Eve for my husbands birthday and had an amazing time. The waiter was very courteous, responsive and made some very good suggestions on wine and food. Can’t wait to return
We have visited all 3 floors over the last 3 weeks over Christmas with family and really enjoyed all of them.
Our server Tom on New Year’s Eve at the roof terrace should be highly commended for his friendliness and excellent service. It was also lovely to see Adam the bar manager who has always given us amazing customer service and always goes out of his way to great us. Look forward to returning soon.
Fantastic - Enjoyed a fabulous meal on NYE. The staff were friendly, the restaurant is beautiful and couldn't fault any aspect of the day/night.
Great service & staff were very welcoming & attentive. Preferred the roof top setting to the rest. Meal however was very disappointing in the brasserie. We were expecting a very high standard which this was not. Sides were hard & obviously reheated as were some of our mains. Wouldn’t return for food as there are much better restaurant options in this area.
Gorgeous venue with excellent service..... amazing for a special occasion.
I am trying to judge this based on the price and reputation that the Ivy receives as a name, but I am a tad disappointed with the Ivy to be honest, both my wife and I found the menu to be uninspiring. I usually find myself with a choice of mains to pick from, only to be told that there were no steaks available due to the Christmas break. I opted to choose the scallops for starter, as did my wife, and chose the chicken Milanese for main. My wife opted for the fishcake. My scallops were not cooked to perfection at all, if a little over-done. My wife's fishcake was bland and said that she could have got a better fishcake for less in a pub. My Chicken Milanese was good, but not exactly Ivy standards in taste and wow factor.
Aside from the negative, the drinks were excellent and the staff were very attentive and helpful. The music was obviously aiming for a more younger clientele, but was very good. A live DJ playing on the decks as we ate.
I hope that this is just a blip and that in 3-4 years time, the Ivy will have established itself in Manchester as a place to go to. But at the moment, i would avoid for now and head to a more established restaurant in the Manchester or Salford area
The Venue is amazing and the service of the staff very pleasant. Food options were abit limites in the roof garden (alot of egg dishes)
We were left waiting a long time between starter and main meal but we didn't mind too much as we were having a nice time. What was impressive is a manger came over to appoligise withoit us havung to say anything or even notice the length of time. We were offered a complimentary drink to apologise but then we're charge for that drink when we looked at the bill after paying we noticed and it just let the experience down.
The whole experience was incredible! I would highly recommend
Enjoyed surroundings. Felt I’ll and went outside. Asked for my coat but was told I could have this as I did not have my ticket. Stood outside in cold damp weather feeling sick while fiancé paid bill upstairs on roof garden. Not great customer service. Understand that coats can just be given to people but still poor to let me stand outside feeling poorly.
Overall very good. Just the brunch menu isn’t really brunch it’s more lunch. And the steak and eggs was a bit bland and over cooked. The place is amazing. And all the other dishes were perfect. Just needs to be more brunch focused
This was my second visit to The Ivy and I’m afraid it has style over substance! The bad points are: the music in the rooftop is far too loud to enjoy a romantic meal. The waiters are robotic who took our plates away but didn’t ask if we’d like to see the desserts menu even tho he knew we were having desserts. We had to wait an hour for our meal so they took a glass of wine off the bill which was overcharged anyway. We are foodies so I’m afraid we wouldn’t chose here with all the fab places in Town but would go back with friends for a fun night out. Maybe.
Came for our wedding anniversary. Great service, lovely food, Good value...Loved the Dj and chilled out vibe, would definitely recommend. Had the most amazing cocktail in the Second Floor restaurant after our meal.
It was ok, staff nice , wine terrible, tuna fish was ordinary, accompanying sauce followed much later, warm chicken salad delicious, creamed spinach brutal and the dessert of rum sponge thing really was awful and they did not charge us for this
Lovely afternoon brunch thank you already booked in March my friends birthday xx
2nd time we’ve been, outstanding service great food and atmosphere
Thoroughly enjoyed our meal at the Ivy, Manchester. The venue was lovely, the food was very good and the service excellent. My only comment is that we were sat next to the window and every now again there was a cold draught from the panels on the roof which were open. I will definitely return and would recommend the Ivy to other people.
very enjoyable afternoon, unfortunately the food is overpriced for what it is.. what a shame for such a nice place
Great food , awesome ambiance, reasonably priced food but drinks pricey.
Style over substance in our view. Excellent service from the waitress though. Food very average, tables very close together so conversations could be overheard, welcome staff could offer a warmer welcome, music way too loud, even after they turned it down at our request.
