   Best local pub. The staff are really friendly & service is great. Lovely atmosphere . Supoer was delicious . Yummy fisherman’s platter to start. Fish main was excellent & skillet cookie was so good ! Excellent choice of starters, mains & deserts, much better than your normal pub. Restaurant standard, pub prices. Very good value.    Very professional and friendly service. Sunday lunch was excellent and the vegetarian option was equally as good. This is our 4th visit and the service was as normal. Would recommend.

   Fabulous local pub. We stayed in a B&B in walking distance and saw recent reviews and decided to try it. Great gastro-pub food with good value. Varied menu, attention to detail and good portion size. Amazing desserts and good drinks choice. If you are in the Glastonbury area I would recommend - you can reserve a table online. The only negative was that it was very quiet but some may like that and we ate late which may explain it. A real gem.

   Excellent menu choices, with a good variety of meat, fish and vegan dishes. Service was great, staff friendly, polite and knowledgeable about the food. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to others, you will not be disappointed.

   We were able to sit outside with the dogs under the umbrellas which was perfect. Cold crisp wine and delicious spiced cod.

    We ate at The Lion twice. The specials menu changed daily and was excellent. All the food that we ate from the menu and specials was tasty, generous portions and well presented. We would recommend this venue as the staff were friendly, attentive and helpful, the food was amazing and the venue was very comfortable.

    A smaller menu but an excellent choice of very well prepared and cooked food. The biggest standout is the knowledgeability of waiting staff about both the food and drinks menu. All in all, a very enjoyable experience

    We've visited many pubs to eat and drink and the food at The Lion was by far the best. Inventive, local and so very tasty. I love fish and game and they really know how to do it well. Own-cured trout and roasted guinea fowl were highlights. Wines are not extensive but that's a great strength because the sparkling English wine, the Pino Grigio, Provence rose and the Portuguese red completely hit the mark. I thoroughly recommend.

    We loved it from the moment we arrived. The guy behind the bar was so helpful - a number of tasters to help me choose a white wine. Food was delicious, service excellent. Great place for dogs and to meet friends. All 4 of us had a lovely meal and we will be back. Thank you.

    Warm welcome and delicious food. Nice that the tables are well spaced. A local resident told us that the chef turnover is quite high and some are not as good but we’ll be going again when next in the area.

    An excellent place to visit for dinner or just call in for a drink and also open for coffee and cake in the morning. A very relaxed setting with excellent service and very friendly staff The Lion is our go to venue when visiting Glastonbury.

    Really lovely pub and great food. We visited on two consecutive nights as staying local and were really impressed. Great staff and we were served by a lady called Kelly who makes the best cocktails. Will definitely return.

    Sunday lunch for 3. We had the Roast Beef (tender), the Braised Pulled Lamb (super-tender) and Pork Belly (beautiful crackling). Huge fluffy Yorkshire puddings, extra gravy provided on request. I am not a fan of large amounts of tubers with my roast dinner (we had beetroot, carrot, swede mash and parsnip) and cavolo nero cabbage. I would have preferred more green vegetables such as broccoli, leeks, peas, savoy cabbage. However, everything was well-cooked and delicious. My husband was glad he had not paid the £5 supplement for extra meat, as he could barely finish his impressive plateful. Very happy with our lunch.

    This visit was for my birthday and had invited 4 guests who haven't been to the Lion previously. Their response to the whole experience is very positive and are already planning to visit once more themselves. This is a testament to the standard of service and food!!     Had dinner in this pub a year ago, all ok. Had Sunday lunch last Sunday (Mothers Day) big mistake, reason I think is they have to prep so much food in readiness that a lot of it is pre-cooked, that they didn`t deny when I brought it up, but did offer me another choice of meal. All I wanted was a nice pub meal not an overcooked, pre-heated but warmed up meal. I would suggest ordering something that`s freshly cooked, say fish or steak. Kevin Christchurch

When we checked back during your meal, nothing was mentioned about mass produced food (this is something we tend to do!), but you mentioned that your beef was tough. We offered a different meat which was declined, and even offered a takeaway box when the portion was too big for you. I'm glad you stayed for dessert and enjoyed our service. Thanks again
