Located in the heart of Melbourne CBD, we bring the fire, family and flavor of the Balkans to the city.

Our kitchen is built on Baba’s recipes — the real deal. Hand-rolled cevapi, smoky pljeskavica, slow-marinated skewers and juicy cuts are grilled over open flame for that unmistakable Balkan aroma. Add in traditional ajvar, creamy kajmak, fresh bread and vibrant salads, and you’ve got bold, generous plates made for sharing.

Authentic Balkan fare. Had the meat platter and did not disappoint, the cevapi a highlight. Outdoor seating was really nice as it was a nice day. Only minor thing I'd recommend is a couple more beer options, such as karlovacko which is one of my favourites. Overall though I was very impressed and will be back for sure, I have to try the sarma.

Great Balkan restaurant in the CBD. Been there few times now and will go back again. Perfect for gathering with friends and family, great food and service.

Just lovely. Been there a couple of times, and walked out full..nearly for days. Good experience to have different food and experience.

Celebrated my Birthday at Meat Republic sat in the outdoor area which was delightful on a beautiful spring day. The food was of a very high standard especially the Sarma/Cabbage rolls . Save some room for desert because the Nutella palachinke/ crepes and Sorbet was to die for. The service was great they have a large assortment of alcoholic drinks from around world. Prices are very reasonable. Highly recommended. Thank you Meat Republic.

We came here for my partner’s birthday and, if I’m honest, we weren’t entirely sure what to expect. Any doubts disappeared as soon as the food started arriving. Every dish was beautifully presented, packed with flavour and clearly made with someone who understands flavour (read: Vegeta). It’s the sort of generous, hearty Balkan-style meal that leaves you wondering if you really needed dessert… before ordering it anyway. 😅 By the end of the night we were so full we had to cancel our plans afterwards and practically hobble home with the meat sweats. The portions are no joke. My partner is Macedonian and can be a very tough critic when it comes to food from this part of the world, so the fact that he was genuinely impressed says more than I ever could. We’d happily come back again.
