Our attitude to food is pretty straightforward: we cook what is best on the day, using the seasonal produce we either grow ourselves on our Farm or obtain from local markets and suppliers. Beef and Pork comes from our own livestock herds and neighbouring farms who share our passion.

Absolutely wonderful meal. Made to feel extremely welcome. Lovely warm atmosphere. The service is second to none with al the staff always so helpful, attentive, professional and friendly. Nothing is too much trouble. Highly recommend The Pointer and look forward to returning soon.

Poor service at bar. Staff too busy with drinkers to direct customers to restaurant. Festive menu not available in restaurant despite being advertised on website. Later on Festive menu given to other guests after we had ordered. Meal very good although main course potions were small and sharing platter was not sufficient for two as stated. Staff polite and friendly but slow and hesitant possibly due to issue with Festive menu. Service and ambience has declined since last visit

Lovely cosy pub with absolutely fantastic food! I had a beautiful fillet steak cooked to perfection, and my partner had the lamb which was also amazing! The portion sizes were very generous as well. This place has a lovely traditional pub feel with exceptional food, great service and a lovely atmosphere. We will definitely be back!

The food was average for what is a local pub. Pricing was high, especially wine. I would not visit again as there are similar pubs with better quality food at lower prices.

Great decor after the refurbishment, lovely food, lively ambiance. We were only a little disappointed we were waiting 90 mins between starter and main course.

Fantastic quality burger and bubble and squeak. We went on a Monday lunchtime, restaurant was closed and the bar was quiet. We will aim to go when its busier and if we are in the area

We stayed overnight at the pointer - rooms beautiful and very comfortable. The staff here are fantastic extremely friendly and helpful especially the manager Peter. Starter was disappointing but main courses of lamb and sirloin steak where fantastic along with the breakfast - will definitely return

The food was disappointing - the crackling on the pork wasn't crispy, the batter on the fish was stodgy, the black pudding scotch egg didn't have any black pudding. This was a pity as the setting, service and ambiance would have warranted another visit. Unless the food improves we will not be coming again.
