   Beautiful building good service and food ambiance was spoiled because the restaurant was very noisy my colleagues and I had difficulty hearing each other perhaps it was because we were a large group and seated in the middle

   Perhaps my fifth time having Sunday Lunch. The service was wonderful as always! The addition of the pork was wonderful. Sad to see the red cabbage removed as this was a particular highlight. Would also love to see crispier roasties and less fatty cuts of beef. But taking the venue and service into account this is still my favourite spot in the city for a Sunday Roast.

   Grill wasn’t working, very limited menu, they must have been aware of the problem before they encouraged us to have pre meal drinks at the bar and then seated us. Waiter had no jurisdiction to help compensate, e.g. complimentary desert. Perhaps the worst customer service I’ve experienced in an established restaurant.

   - 4 dishes had run out on the menu on arrival but many of these were the only gluten free options. - My friend is a coeliac and will get very sick if eats gluten. Your menu and website says gluten contains for some of the menus so we picked you for this reason but then we were told not to use this menu and instead given a 4 page matrix to read alongside it next to each ingredient. -It was very challenging for my friend as she had to go through a matrix for each dish and then look at the menu. I think it would make sense to have a sheet where you are clear rather than 4 pages and a menu and go back and forth with each. -The food stock providers you receive from all say "may have gluten" in despite one even being cheese only with salad. It would be good to think about providers who are sure and not covering their back. She could eat only 3 things from the whole menu and this is a small and large plate place. - Further to that the waitress didn't seem particularly impressed by our questions. - Food was good but this was frustrating for her.

    We were on our way to the theatre and got to The Refuge early but had to wait almost 45 minutes for food since we sat down . After being given gluten free bread and nothing else then eventually a glass of wine we enquired to where our food was and were told it was a new menu and taking longer. Many tables waiting with no food. When finally everything came it was not the best food. My mums lamb pitta was like a pizza and couldnt taste any mind only spice, 3 burnt carrots for £7 the Artichokes were the best thing but food wasn't fine dinning or delicious plus we ate it so fast. We were offered a free drink ! We wont be returning and by the looks of others who weren't happy they may not return either. A fancy look , lovely building but the restaurant needs some serious improvement! So disappointing considering it was a birthday treat and special occasion . The show though was excellent so least our evening was topped off nicely.

    Meals are kinda overpriced.And you have to pay separately for a side salad for your steak🤷🏼‍♂️ Unusual in my experience. Music too loud, takes away from the ambience

    Food was lovely, staff friendly and a beautiful setting. We were sat in the corner where the air con was coming out so was a little cool but not overly off putting this time. We’ll be back!

    Sunday lunch. Portions are big, especially the Yorkshire pudding. They don't need to be that big. Food not hot enough (temp) when arriving at the table. Noisy atmosphere made worse by live music from the bar combining with music piped into the restaurant.

    Great venue , good service and unusual menu with varied types of dishes. Every dish we chose was excellent and healthy. Small issue cashing out OpenTable Dining Cheque but the restaurant honoured the cheque even though they did not know how they could apply/recover it (fortunately I had communicated via email in advance that I would be using it or could have been a different outcome) .

    We Ordered a few different options . the sea bass was lovely , highly recommend the belly pork and the Cabbage. enough time to enjoy one lot of food before the next lot came out. the mushroom sourdough was heaven. would have liked to try the steak but the price was to high and unsure if it would have been worth it with it being the first time we had been . Staff were lovely and helpful. would go again.

    A lovely selection of tapas food beautifully prepared, attentive service, really enjoyed my pre-theatre Birthday celebration and even received a Birthday dessert with a candle which looked exquisite …great touch! 👍🏻 Unfortunately the octopus dish was off the menu and I so wanted to try and we also had to rush with our desserts in the end in fear of being late for the show, I think it should be taking less than 20 min to serve the desserts but I am still giving 5***** for the overall impression.

    This must be among the finest eating spaces in Manchester. I still think of the building as the Palace Hotel but have been aware of the Refuge for sometime as a venue for food. We visited as a surprise meal for my wife’s birthday and she loved it. We stuck to fish on the menu, the octopus was different to when I’ve had this in the past, slightly crisp finish. The fish was lovely done in a simple way. Price was expensive but this was expected due to being a hotel restaurant.

    Nice food and a good value, but it felt like drinks took forever from time ordered to their being delivered. For busy bank holiday weekend, perhaps adjust staffing to make sure there is better throughput on service.
