Lovely pub. Good food. Super dog friendly. Service fine (bit over keen - felt slightly rushed). Was a good location for avoiding fireworks with the dog!

Yesterday we visited The White Lodge for a colleague’s leaving lunch. When we arrived the venue was unusually quiet; only one front‑of‑house staff member was present. A queue had already formed, so our drinks took longer than normal to arrive. We were told where our table was instead of being shown to it. After sitting down we received no menus and were not asked if we wanted anything else. I found the lone staff member and asked for menus; once we had them, the menu looked good. There were two other tables in our room and a handful elsewhere, so the restaurant didn’t seem busy. With only one staff member, he was clearly rushed. I returned to the bar and asked whether we needed to order there, since no one had taken our order. After waiting 20 minutes, our order was finally taken. Because a colleague had to leave at a particular time, we confirmed that the food would be delivered in time and were assured it would not be a problem. Half an hour later the staff member returned and said the timing would indeed be an issue, so the order was changed to chips. The chips arrived, and 15 minutes later the next meal was served, but the first colleague had already left. When we asked about the remaining four meals, we were told they would be ready in a minute. With that meal virtually finished, three more plates were brought out, and we were told the last one would arrive in a few minutes. About five minutes later the final meal arrived. What should have been a pleasant occasion turned into a two‑hour experience of eating separately. The staff member was genuinely apologetic but clearly lacked the tools and support to succeed. He adjusted our bill, which we appreciated, but paying anything after that experience feels disappointing. Later that day two members of our party fell ill after eating their meals. This may warrant contacting the Food Standards Agency. I have visited The White Lodge many times and this is the worst experience by far.

First visit to the lodge. Only 1 member of staff who was run off his feet but as good as he could be. One meal returned as very overcooked, 3 other meals very unsatisfactory, cold and tough. 3 meals eaten but no replacement yet, over 1.5 hours in the restaurant, not a good experience, shouting and the f word could be heard from the kitchen. We paid for drinks but not the meal as left before the replacement was ready.

Quick stop on way home from weekend away , only booked 30 mins before on app , really good . We all had roast beef , sadly no room for desserts. We will definitely beback back

Awful atmosphere. Only 2 tables for 2 people in the restaurant and that's on a weekend day The lighting in the restaurant is far to bright, installing a few dimmer switches would easily overcome this. No upfront person available, just inexperienced kids serving. Our main course arrived before we had any cutlery or napkins Food was just about ok, but my duck was very tough and my wife's meal was very average I really think it needs someone who is experienced in catering to go in and make a lot of changes otherwise I just can't see how the restaurant can survive in this difficult industry, especially with the lack of customers.

Visited for dinner food was very good as was service. We were in the larger room which has had a makeover but lacks something. It was very quiet unfortunately which makes a difference to the overall experience. I would recommend it lots of deals to be had so give it a go.

Half the food (mains& desserts) were off the menu/not available & we had to wait 50 minutes for our food after ordering. I will not be rushing to go back

The person who served us was amazing, she deserves a medal for what she was expected to do alone. The restaurant was empty except for one other table at the other end of the venue. The server was working on her own thus the drinks and food took ages to come. No bar staff, just her on her own. The steak was under cooked, the crabcakes had been microwaved and the lasagne didn't have much meat in it. I asked to speak to the manager to discuss it all, but she had gone home earlier. It was our 40th wedding anniversary family meal and it was awful, except for the server. She tried really hard. We drove 40 mins to try a new venue that looked nice. We won't be going back!

Terrible experience do not go unless u have time waited an hour and our order hadn’t even been taken Watched a table of 22 that had booked and pre ordered was a shambles No management just a young waitress who I felt so sorry for and a head chief who should not have to apologise to customers Management need to up there game and employ staff to manage and not leave to the little staff it employs Want to support local business but there’s a limit Second time this has happened to us there Management should be ashamed Every table complained Terrible place

We pre booked a table for 8 people and were asked to pay a deposit. We had seen it was a dog friendly pub but on arriving we were told dogs weren’t allowed in where we were eating. We thought this strange seeing as they had a dog menu and were advertising it. We weren’t served for a good 10-15 minutes after being seated so went to the bar and we asked for drinks. We were then told by the waitress they had run out of roasts even though we had pre booked roasts. Then we were told it was a miscommunication. Overall multiple miscommunications meant a Sunday roast with friends was way more stressful than it needed to be. The waitress didn’t seem to know what she was doing. They had one beer on tap and ran out of all juice and cokes or diet cokes. Seemed disorganised to us and we won’t be returning.
