The Wine House
We thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience. Outstanding service, exquisite cuisine—the specials were awesome. Second time there in about three weeks. It is on the top of our favorites list.
A wonder and creative new find, the Wine House is quickly becoming a favorite haunt!
This is the best dining experience in Fairfax
What I like most about the Wine House is it’s comfortable bistro setting, interesting menu, all the great wines they go to the trouble of finding, and the fantastic staff. Everyone is friendly and the service is great. The wines available obviously are Carefully chosen, well thought through, and cover the globe. The prices are right too. The menu always has something surprising.
I highly recommend the New Zealand rack of lamb, the Cod, Farro island salmon, chipotle braised short ribs, and the seared scallops. Save room for bread pudding and a sticky wine.
Cozy, great service, wine and food was very good.
Great staff, wonderful owner, delicious food - Theresa, our waitress ROCK!
Amazing as always!!
We sat outside and the weather was perfect. My date did have to find the waiter one time but that was towards the end of the evening and I think we the last patrons sitting outside.
I love the food, wine and atmosphere of The Wine House.
Delicious amd not rushed
Had the filet mignon and the lamb shank, did not disappoint! Great cut on the steak, cooked medium rare to perfection. Lamb shank slid off the bone!
Wine selection was phenomenal.
Definitely coming back!
Great place and great wine!
If I am in the area, I would absolutely come back. Food was great but our server, Theresa, put the cherry on top. Fabulous service and personality! Someone give Theresa a raise!
We decided on this restaurant at the last moment, and before we drove a distance to the restaurant we used OT to make a reservation. They has room so we went. The menu was varied..lots of interesting choices. But I was attracted to a special, the pork chop, which turned out to be spectacular. Flavorful and moist, and large! Unfortunately it will probably not be on the regular menu to enjoy. There is a good selection of wines which you select from the racks on the walls if you want a bottle. I was surprised that I did not recognize most of the labels, particularly the California ones (I am from California).
We will return on our next visit to the area.
Invited friends from Potomac to visit our new home. Dinner was great and service was good - too bad all main courses were not served at the same time.
Consistently good food, service and dining experience.
Great service and menu. Really like the wide selection of wines. Have just one request. Bring back the duck confit!
Great place to get together with friends on a Friday evening. Server was very attentive though did not rush us, food and wine were enjoyed by all, noise level was very low so it was easy to carry on a conversation.
Went to the Wine House for our 29th anniversary and had a great time and great food. The waitress was very nice and let us sit and enjoy our meal and had some great recommendations for wine. Recommend this restaurant highly.
A wonderful combination of great food, wonderful wine selections, ambiance and attentive service. The owner/ sommelier spent time with us explaining wine pairings with our food choices which greatly enhanced our enjoyment of our meals. The Wine House is among our 2 or 3 favorite restaurants in the DC area.
We have eaten at the Wine House but visited again during Restaurant Week. The meal was excellent, service attentive, and overall a great dining experience.
Great place, although restaurant week's lunch menu could be better. Omelets and eggs Benedict?
Simply the best!
Excellent local restaurant in Fairfax City, excellent food, beverage, and, most of all, service!
Always great food and wine. Our servers were lovely--helpful, friendly, even providing a sample of a wine I was unsure about. The only reason for a slightly less than perfect rating was that the kitchen seemed exceedingly slow--a half hour at least from order to arrival. Fortunately, we had an appetizer and were talking so it wasn't a huge issue, but not up to The Wine House's usual standards. That was a bit embarrassing for me, as I had a guest who had not been there before.
Great food, great service, wonderful atmosphere. Theresa, our server, was outstanding and very knowledgeable about the wine. Highly recommend!!
The food and service were great. Server’s wine recommendation went perfectly with my shrimp dish.
We greatly appreciated the low noise level so we could chat without raised voices.
Will definitely be going back.
We had a Sunday brunch. They had a chose 3 items menu or a normal menu available. We selected the normal menu and everything was very good. We split our entrees and both enjoyed the others choice as well. A very good brunch for a lazy Sunday.
Excellent dinner, as usual. The rack of NZ lamb was particularly special. The personal attention of the owner in her role as sommelier is something we always look forward to.
Birthday. AC was down and it was pretty uncomfortable. The food was so good we sat and enjoyed the food
Would have rated it higher. Felt rushed even though the restaurant was not busy (day after 4th) otherwise a lovely evening
Great dinner of mussels.
Always a great time at the Wine House. Lamb chops were excellent as was the short rib. We will be back again...............and, again:)
Great evening with delicious food and good wine!
We went for appetizers & the flight of Australians wines. I had the tuna with mango salsa which was very good. It was a nice enjoyable time.
Father’s Day dinner!
We love the Wine House and come fairly frequently. The food is always outstanding. I had to take a star away for this particular visit, because one member of our party didn’t get her food until about 5 minutes after the rest of us. Other than that, everything was wonderful, as always.
The Wine House is a little gem in downtown Fairfax. We have been there many times and have never been disappointed.
Wine value was excellent. Food quality was very good. Great casual date night.
Best al fresco dining in area. Great ambience for conversation.
Menu is varied and offers interesting takes on traditional entrees. Exceptional wine selection. Will go back again.
Lovely Friday evening al fresco dining with live dinner music compliments of city of Fairfax quartet. Delicious fish and vegetables and good white wine. Perfect storm for the senses.
