Went on a Friday evening. The restaurant was full but not packed--noisy but not deafening. Ambiance was nice. Some of the dishes were excellent, especially the funeral potatoes and the burger. The chicken katsu and meat loaf were merely good. The pork chop was a bit dry and tough, although the accompanying mushrooms and potatoes were flavorful and quite a treat. Dessert was inexpensive (a plus!) and adequate without being special. Our biggest issue was waiting for over an hour between placing our order and the arrival of the entrées, and then waiting another 1/2 hour between ordering dessert and getting it at the table. Neither the wait staff nor the kitchen seemed overly busy during this time, so we're not sure what caused the delay. At the top end of $20+ each, the entrées were perhaps a little overpriced, given that most of them were only average/good Would go back for the burger in a heartbeat, but maybe not for a special meal.

The server was superb. The food was slow getting to the table. The person who ordered the short rib really enjoyed the meal. The person who ordered the chicken katsu said the chicken was bland and that the meat was tough. The person who ordered the risotto found that it was bland and the lemon flavor was overpowering.

The meatloaf and short ribs were outstanding. Service was great. It was rainy so we had to eat inside; that was very noisy. Outside dining is much better. We were later told that we could eat in the bar area, so we will do that next time we have to sit inside.

A strong thunderstorm came through during our dinner, knocking out the power for almost an hour. The kitchen staff and servers were heroic, making sure we were comfortable, delivering fresh drinks, and serving us our orders in good time. I'm actually not entirely sure how they were able to pull it off without electricity, but our meals were very good, indeed. This is a lovely space in a great location. We'll definitely return, and I hope we can dine outside next time!

Visiting for a skating competition. Looked for a place not far from Little America. So happy we tried this amazing gem of Salt Lake City. The food was amazing! Such a fun place to have dinner. We ate inside, but outside looked lovely. Please go here. You won't regret it. The food is delicious!

Seemed waitress was racist. Treated other tables much better. Hostess set the wrong tone at the beginning and at the end: Too busy on her phone to even thank us for coming.

Visited Tradition on a Wednesday evening. Service was excellent and it had a great atmosphere. The menu did seem a little small, but everything we had was delicious. Highly recommend the Fried Green Tomatoes and the Burrata Salad.

Our party tried two different appetizers (chicken croquettes & fried green tomatoes), three different entrees (meatloaf, pork chop, & beef short ribs) & one dessert (apple pie). Everything was well-prepared & very tasty. All of us enjoyed our dinner very much!!

Nice ambience, feels approachable. Excellent salad selection, we enjoyed burrata, beet and Caesar selections. Also devoured the funeral Potato and Brussels sprouts starters. Short ribs were wonderful, pork chop was good, slightly dry. Salty chicken on the salad which they took off our bill to fix the problem. The caramel brownie with ice cream was a delightful finish. We tried a variety of their cocktails which were tasty.

Great new find! The food was innovative and clean eating. It wasn’t as hot as it could be and the drinks weren’t as cold. It was amazing food concepts. The homeless people across the street were a bit of a nuisance but it was an enjoyable experience and the meatshop Beltex next door was also an amazing find.

Food was excellent. Service was spotty. Drinks came after appetizers. One drink was forgotten. One entree was delivered considerably later than rest of table. For these prices I would expect better attention to detail on the service side.

A very good choice if you are looking for a quaint restaurant to take your Sweetie out for her anniversary! Ask for a quiet seat. We could tell that Traditions has a real chef, as the food and service was spectacular. Highly recommend!

I've been wanting to try this place for a while and finally made it on my last visit to SLC. We loved it. We had the funeral potatoes and chicken croquettes-both fantastic. We ordered a second serving of croquettes so we wouldn't have to share. For main dishes we had the short ribs which my husband thought were up there with the best he's had. The trout is a very generous portion and cooked to perfection. And the chicken and dumplings, different than what you might expect but delicious. We were too full for dessert but will be back again. If you are doing at a prime dinner time be sure to make reservations.

The burger is BACK! It's that good. My coctail was excellent, husband was WAY happy with his pork chop and the two Spaniards I brought along were in love with the Beef Short Rib. They were also intrigued by the Funeral Potatoes. When 2 people straight out of Spain are happy with the food that's a good sign.

Good service but food was disappointing. The chicken wings were undercooked and some of the feathers were still on them. The chicken entree was very salty. Honestly, cocktails were the highlight.

LOVED the cocktail list and being able to sit outside. The service was very attentive but not overwhelming. I especially appreciate their focus on bringing creativity to many standard dishes. The miso sauce for my delicious chicken on black rice with mushrooms and egg was VERY salty. Also most as if the original stock was salted correctly but when reduced the salt content increased too much. Something for the kitchen staff to be careful to avoid. Otherwise LOVE this sweet creative restaurant and will continue to return (so don’t tell anyone else about it)😉

The service and food were excellent at Tradition! We sat at a table in the bar area which was perfect for a dinner filled with conversation, without the bustle of the main dining area. Locally owned, clean, killer vibe with comfort food at its best!
