Trummer's Restaurant recently underwent a 10 year renovation and relaunch in Historic Clifton. This is where New York City meets Historical Charm. Owners Stefan and Victoria Trummer bring their extensive New York City restaurant experience and passion to small town Clifton to offer a unique dining experience.

    Ate outside on patio. Everything was superb. This is a real favorite for us. We often come here to celebrate important occasions like birthdays and anniversaries. We have often brought friends and family here.

    Service was slow on the second floor where we sat. The wines we had were pretty good. The tomato tart was delicious. My wife's Wienerschnitzel was prepared ok, but lacking flavor. My Cajun-spiced red snapper dish was not good. It lacked flavor and spice. The skin was soggy. The lardons were not cooked all the way, thus fatty and rubbery. The okra was also not cooked properly, so it was slimy. I replaced it with the Boursin cavatelli dish with braised short rib cacciatore. The dish was so salty, but at that point, my wife had finished her plate and wasn't in the mood to return that one as well. It was a big miss.

    Sat outside, which was nice, but it took close to 1.5hr to be seated and our food to come. We had a reservation so it was unfortunate the seating took so long. By this time is was very dark and starting to get cold.

    Really unfortunate experience tonight, which sucks because we live in Clifton and have enjoyed Trummer’s in the past. The night started out with us getting there and initially being seated inside when we had requested an outdoor reservation. They immediately fixed it but it felt like they were somewhat holding us responsible for the confusion for some reason. Service then proceeded to be incredibly slow on all fronts, despite the restaurant not being very crowded. It took forever to get us menus, then again for drinks, food, etc. It was very strange. Lastly, the food was fine. Not great, not terrible, just fine. I think at this point we’ll be taking a break from Trummer’s and hopefully return someday when they get back on track.

    Trummers improved a lot from about 4 years ago. Totally back to its great self! Our server was really great too!!! Food was excellent.

    Server was very attentive and helpful. The food is good, but nothing particularly special and for the price, does not provide great value. If going on someone else's business account - enjoy. However, I would not go back for a birthday or anniversary celebration dinner.

    We went for lunch on a quiet Thursday afternoon, the restaurant itself was beautiful. Our server was very friendly, and made sure to check on us, but he was clearly stretched thin. He was the only server on staff and had probably 6 or 7 tables by the time we left. There must have also been as skeleton crew in the kitchen as well, because our two salads and a side of fries, took 45 minutes to come out... and my steak was over-cooked, and the fries were cold. Over-all not a great experience. I'm willing to admit that it makes sense they wouldn't have a lot of people on staff on a Thursday afternoon (and maybe that's the risk you take), but if your service is going to be garbage than just don't open. I might be willing to try it again for like drinks and apps one night, but this place really disappointed me.

    Absolutely impeccable service and ambiance. We very much appreciated the special touches in celebration of our daughter’s birthday, to include the toasting champagne and the mousse cups at the end—really great touches both! The risotto was excellent, as was the prime rib. The trout was good and the slaw added crunch. Perhaps a bit more seasoning on the fish would have elevated the flavor, otherwise a great evening!

    Last minute Saturday date night experience. Nice environment. Friendly, quick, service. Kind of pricy, so was expecting to be amazed, but… Food (and drink) was hit and miss. Food: Cockles and cornbread were great! Rainbow trout and pickled veggies was amazing! Cavatelli pasta with short rib was bland and mushy. Drinks: Huge wine list, but not our thing so we got a hard cider and an amber ale from a very small offering list. Cider (canned, Potter’s Hibiscus) was not good. Just weak and flavorless. Beer (bottled, Great Lakes, Elliot Ness amber) was very good. Not sure if any draft options were available… skipped dessert…

    On the occasion of my youngest son's 27th birthday, my wife and I took him and his girlfriend to Trummers. We had been assigned overseas, and this was our first trip back for a special occasion. Simply put: everything was stupendous. Great service - not hovering, but attentive. Great cocktails and drinks. Appetizers incredible - we shared three all together; get the bone marrow, then when your server asks if you'd like the Luge Shot, say yes. Mains were all outstanding, as were the two desserts we split. Food cooked perfectly. Try the Austrian Wine Flight (really good wine!). We were disappointed that Trummers no longer offers the Chef's Tasting Menu - which in years past was one of two outstanding restaurants in the area that consistently hit that tasting menu out of the ballpark, along with the former Sommelier who simply knew her stuff - the current a la carte menu is exceptionally good.

    This was our first time at Trummers and we have been wanting to try it forever. The food was awesome and the service was great. It took a little longer for our food to arrive but it was worth the wait. They also accommodated my food restrictions without a hassle and made it so easy. The wine list is mostly Austrian but absolutely delicious. I want to work my way through their wine list. I was a little nervous at first about bringing my 18 mo old to the restaurant but there were other families there and we were clearly put in the kids section which we did not mind at all. This place is so close to my house that we are going to add it to our night out rotation. An all around great night out with the family. Strongly recommend!

    Food is good but pricey. Servers and manager were friendly and accommodating but took almost an hour to get served main course. Nice ambiance but inside dining room echoes and a little loud and difficult for older folks who can’t hear well. Nice special event venue.

    Warm welcome and ambience. Very responsive, attentive service. Appreciated complimentary prosceco from missed dinner due to June outage, and sample salad from chef--delicious. Food was outstanding.

    Appetizers and desert were good. Entrees were not memorable and failed to deliver to the descriptions expectations. Pork, steak, and prime rib were all dry despite the medium or medium rare order.

    Nice restaurant - service very slow but was not the waitress fault as she seemed to be the only person working . Tomato tart as an appetizer was good . Brussels sprouts would've been better without the blue cheese in the dish . Restaurant in such a nice setting but not sure id return anytime soon .

    The waiter was terrific & the best part of the meal. The food arrived cold & was tasteless. There was only another table or two, so it was easy to converse.I have been here often --usually for dinner or weekend brunch --which is usually good. This was an overpriced waste of money, frankly.

    Absolutely outstanding service and the quality of the food is top notch. After a very long week, we were looking forward to a date night. Patrick was our waiter and his service was truly fantastic throughout our visit. Every dish was delicious! It’s so hard to find whole fish on menus today, so it’s such a treat to dine at Trummers.
