Txula Steak at Mercado Little Spain is José Andrés Group’s newest steakhouse—inspired by the traditional flavors and spirit found in the legendary asadores of the Basque country. Tucked inside the acclaimed Hudson Yards market, and named for the Txuletón, a 60-day aged beef ribeye, Txula Steak centers around a roaring Josper charcoal oven where meats, seafood, and vegetables are kissed by live fire. Expect signature cuts including Ibérico pork, Spanish lamb, and American Wagyu served alongside Steak Tartare Bikini sandwiches, Red Shrimp from the Balearic Sea, the iconic Txuleburger, and the Martina Hayworth, a Spanish twist on the classic steakhouse martini—all prepared using old-world techniques and served under the High Line.

    Not worth the price, the $150 steak is super small, just like for one person. I ate the exactly the same steak even same flavor in other restaurants and that costed me $75. Based on the really poor value, I expect I will not come back again.

    Service was painfully slow and inattentive. All three of our meats were poorly cooked and not to our liking. We asked for medium rare for the steak and the lamb. The steak was rare almost raw, and the lamb was well done. The pork neck was tough and flavorless. The french fries were soggy. Water was served to those of us who ordered sparkling. The person who asked for flatwater had to ask twice to get one refill, and then, although the glass was different when the bus person came over to pour sparkling for those of us who had sparkling glasses, it was served in the flatwater glass as well. There’s no excuse when the bill is as high as it is to have such dreadful service.

    I had dinner here with my sister and nephew; we had communicated allergies to the restaurant before hand and the experience was not great. My nephew could only eat the steak - with nothing else. All the sides and vegetables were cross contaminated with his allergies (egg, fish, nuts and sesame); so the experience was below expectation. For the prices also, the portions are too small. Disappointing - I would avoid.

    great food located in a Spanish market in the Hudson Yards. had the roast baby lamb and it was outstanding. i make it for the holidays and it is widely available in Rome but i’ve never seen it on a menu in USA. can’t wait to go back to try steak and roast suckling pig. they also have a wonderful wine list. i highly recommend Txula and if you’re not interested in a sit-down dinner, explore the market for a wide variety of food and drink in a casual, vibrant setting.

    The three entrees our table ordered came out over a span of 20 minutes. The large format steak came out first and it was cold (I watched it sit under the pick up lights for five minutes). The hamburger came out raw when ordered medium rare and when asked to have it cooked further that took an additional 15 minutes (after it came out 20 minutes after the steak). The pork entree was overcooked and tasteless. It came out ten minutes after the steak.
