   Service was fine and kind. Menu is disjointed and lacks any type of thematic appeal. Tuna crudo was warm, inconsistently sliced, warm and the dipping sauce was inedible. Cheese and charcuterie board is overpriced and boring. Never go back.

   Went to check out Verbena kitchen for Sunday brunch, as I’ve heard good things about it. I made reservations but ended up arriving 30mins early. After just a short wait we were accommodated earlier than our reservation time And seated. We were browsing the menu for just a short time when our server approached our table. Our drink order was taken and he left us a few more minutes to decide on our food choices. He raves about the cinnamon rolls which were made at Nomad down the street but jazzed up with their own caramel apple sauce, candied pecans and cream cheese frosting. It sounded so good we had to share one for the table… and we were so glad we ordered it! It was delicious!!! In addition our table also ordered breakfast sandwich, basic breakfast and shrimp and grits. Everything was so tasty. The shrimp and grits had a lot of complex flavors that went so well together. The sandwich and basic breakfast were simple dishes executed perfectly. I highly recommend this place and would return again to try other dishes.

   I loved the food, the wine, and the music, and the restaurant was beautiful, my only issue was the portions of the food. My partner and I were still hungry by the end of the night but we had already paid $300 plus. That aside, everything was wonderful.

    Came here for Valentine’s Day. The food was either exceptional or subpar. There really was unfortunately no in between. Same for the drinks. The service was OK. The price point was high. Personally, I will go elsewhere next time.

    I'm sad to say that our party was underwhelmed by Verbena Kitchen. It is a strange menu with only a couple of things that would be considered mains, and the portion sizes are a little small for the cost. The charcuterie board only had 2 kinds of cheese and not much of them, and my salad was gritty as if they hadn't washed the greens (they did take this off the check though so kudos for that). It wasn't bad (other than the salad), it just wasn't great.

    Over salted and the cheese board and charcuterie had two pickles and two small smears of cheese that didn’t even work for two diners . I would not recommend for a night out - don’t let the decor fool you. Not even basic just underwhelming

    The food was very good, but I think the shrimp and grits potion is very small for the price. However, it was very tasty. The breakfast burger is huge and well worth it. We went during brunch and they have an all you can drink mimosas option; great brunch spot. It was busy when we got there so I’d definitely recommend getting a reservation.

    I've been wanting to try this place and I'm glad I did. When I made the reservation, I looked at the menu and worried it would be a bit limiting because it is small, but it was fine. It's a cute, clean place with a nice vibe. Our table was pretty small and right against a brick wall, so it was a bit cramped. One of my friends was worried he was going to scrape his watch on the brick; I ended up scratching my arm on it when returning from the bathroom. The service was great; very friendly and attentive, except for the fact that our server took my cocktail away without asking before I was finished with it. The food was pretty good. We shared the tartare, which didn't look too appetizing because of all the aioli in it, but the flavor was good. It was a bit tough, prompting one friend insist (only among us) that it wasn't really Wagyu as advertised; I'm not sure I agree, but a finer grind on the steak would have made it better. Two friends each got the burger, which they said wasn't stellar, but decent. Another got the flatbread, which he ended up returning because it was too salty for him to eat. The server offered to replace with another or something else and when he declined, she voluntarily took it off our check without being asked. I got the ceviche, which I feel like was the best choice of the night! The flavors were great and the fish seemed very fresh; the texture of it was perfect. I also love that it's served with potato chips (flavored ones that pair nicely) vs. tortilla chips since I avoid wheat and corn. We were all happy with our cocktails and the selection of drinks/wine was exactly what I'd expect from a place like this. I'm not sure I'll rush back, but I feel like it's a solid option for the neighborhood and has some nice options that are generally on the healthier side.

    Not many options on the menu but honestly I like that. The food was good and I like the ambiance. I’m pregnant and the mocktail was delicious! The service however, was pretty awful. The bartender helped out our server and he was efficient, but the server (Fabi) would look at us and walk away, didn’t know the menu, and forgot what we asked for which wasn’t much. I’ve worked in the industry for years so normally have compassion but it seemed like she didn’t care.

    Loved dining here! The service was great, they had amazing recommendations and were super knowledgeable of each item on the menu. The staff was also incredibly welcoming and kind which I really appreciated. The food and drinks were great - the eye of the storm, rustic flatbread, and wagyu beef tartare were my personal favorites! Will definitely be coming back, had a great time

    The Good It’s a very classy decor worthy of any high-end ranch house or east coast mansion kitchen. Staff are pleasant and helpful. The food is edible. The Bad The table water is tap - no complaints there - but doesn’t taste much filtered. If you’re expecting Brita/Pur quality, don’t. Ordered a French press coffee and a pineapple juice. I expected a full French press, like, shareable. Nope; I got one cup out of it. ONE. For $6?? Nope, nope, nope. As for the pineapple juice? Canned. I saw the can on the bar. At least that was only $3. About portions. I was very excited about the food after reading so many good reviews, until I saw our plates roll out. The breakfast sandwich. Yep, was a bun with an egg on it, a thick slice of tomato, a couple leaves of arugula, and about an ounce of ham, and it didn’t taste like much. To accompany it was a half a handful of arugula and one-half a cherry tomato. Yes, a single half-tomato. The basic breakfast was two poached eggs, an ounce (ok maybe 2 oz) of ham, some fruit, and toast. Now let me be specific about what was on the plate: there was ONE slice of toast cut in half, and the fruit consisted of 2 raspberries, 2 blackberries, and 4 blueberries. Seriously disappointing for $17. We were discussing where to go for second breakfast at this point. The Ugly Check. Your. Bill. When you were being seated, did they let you know there’d be a quiz at the end of your meal? Let me be be clear here: if you didn’t memorize the prices on the menu for the food items you ordered you may be taken for a ride here. Do you remember how much that pineapple juice was? Was it $4? Uh-oh… We’re you going by menu listed prices or there website when you ordered? Uh-oh… I don’t know what’s going on, but when the waiter says “Hey, good memory,” THAT IS NOT A COMPLIMENT. I’m sure after a few bottomless mimosas most people aren’t paying attention, which makes this so much worse. Seriously. Watch out. We will not be back.

    My first visit to Verbena and I’ll definitely be back! Stopped in for dinner before heading to a play, our server was very attentive and provided excellent service. My daughter and I shared a few dishes, all were unique and delicious. Started with the oysters on happy hour, an amazing deal! The shrimp ceviche was bursting with flavor and the chef’s soup with apple slices was warm and comforting on a cold evening. Topped things off with their burger, cooked perfectly with just the right amount of sauce and onions. Lots of different tastes and each was excellent!

    Neighborhood Favorite! Verbena is such a wonderful place to relax and visit. Every time, the decor is on point and our service is outstanding! 5 big stars to Elizabeth who was such a wonderful attendant! The morning cocktails are delicious and the shrimp and grits was to die for. Have to try the not avocado toast too! fresh, clean, and filling!

    We went there for NYE. The food was below the expectations. The octopus wasn’t cooked well. The caviar dish didn’t taste anything special. The tartare was disappointing. The drinks were mediocre. I had a cheap tasting sparkling wine and two roses. My date had a mocktail, which she didn’t finish. The service was very friendly. Ambiance is great. I would not want to back there because of the food, but it’s great for a first date.

    Good restaurant with a nice vibe. A bit on the noisy side and not the best place to have conversations. I missed a NY Eve menu and was bummed they had run out of the tuna by 7pm. Food was good overall and a bit surprising in a good way. Drinks were very tasty. The servers were nice and trying hard but a bit overwhelmed, like in most restaurants these days.

    Being right in the neighborhood on a blustery NYE, this hit the spot. A bit overpriced but hey. It’s New Year’s Eve! We’re a bit on the older side (as were a lot of people there at the time we went in) and the noise level made it difficult to hear, plus the guitarist, who was excellent, was a little loud for a small venue. However, his choices of songs were perfect for “our” generation so that was nice. All in all, a great experience!

    Second visit, and with the service, prices, and general ambiance, have upgraded my previous review. This restaurant has much to offer with an honest approach to good food, with some unique dishes. I would heartily recommend the restaurant as almost a throwback to good food, honestly and attentively served with a unique chef and waitstaff. Very much worth a visit!!!

    We enjoyed everything ! Definitely recommend the rustic flatbread , mushroom hummus and ribeye steak 10/10.. I will definitely go back ! Drinks were also delicious ( the Californian)

    Beautiful interior space and elegant, but not too formal. Happy hour petit sirah excellent for 7$! The ceviche was tasty but contained little fish. Our server was lovely and she accomodated request to get cucumber in addition to the sweet potato chips to go with the appetizer. We will come again.

    The dishes were under-seasoned and specifcially the shrimp in the Shrimp and Grits over cooked and the "spicy" dish not very. It's a lovely environment with great servers so the food not hitting the mark was disappointing.

    Above average for North Park. The menu is a bit limited in selections. I did have the Ahi and it was very good. The server was very good and attentive. The do have outside dining. Note: Parking can be a challenge.

    My husband and I went here for brunch on my birthday. The shrimp and grits were incredible—seriously. We plan to come back to try this place for dinner. Service was fantastic, too.

    We were given friendly and knowledgeable service. Dallas knew his stuff about wines, aps and entrees. The oysters were great with a white dipping sauce make with white vinegar, garlic, shallots, a little pepper and olive oil. Really never had anything like it. The ceviche was out of this world. The mussels with pasta was great but the farmers salad with ahi tuna was out of this world. We’re coming back!!

    I made our reservation on Open Table, then called to see about outside seating, bringing our dog, etc. Dallas, the GM, answered the phone and was so great on the phone. Since it was going to be somewhat chilly on the day we were coming to Verbena, he said we could bring our dog inside (as long as he's well behaved!). When we arrived we ended up having 1 extra person show up so Dallas and the staff went out of their way to accommodate us during a busy time for the restaurant. Once we were settled, we turned to the food which was delicious! We all loved our selections. I had the shrimp and grits which I highly recommend. Our dog stayed under our table and most diners had no idea he was even there! We will definitely be back. Excellent experience, food and ambiance! Thanks, Dallas!
