Victuals & co
Superb place for dinner, outstanding service, fantastic food.
We had a lovely meal with relatives over from
Australia- by far the best meal out in every sense.
Delicious Sunday Roast Lunch raised to fine dining level.
Ambition here outpaces performance. And cooking falls short in both respects. And what’s really the Victuals Schtick? Is it about a feast of starters, about sharing with the rest of the table or simply very small helpings? Frankly Cheese and dessert were the best courses. But attentive and helpful service and the kind of atmosphere you hope for over a weekend escape in Deal between Christmas and New Year
Booked restaurant for quiet birthday treat. Easy to book on line. Staff were very helpful and attentive and explained how the menu worked. The restaurant doesn't want to be known as a tapas bar but that is effectively how it works but at a nouveau cuisine level. Quiet. Would recommend but with a good bottle of wine can be rather expensive.
What an amazing place. As soon as you enter, the customer service and friendly atmosphere is clear and of high quality. The food speaks for it's self and is worth every penny!
It was different to our normal eats, but a refreshing change. I did find the menu a bit confusing but with a little help mastered it.
The wine I had was superb overall a bit on the pricey side.
We were wondering what to do on a Friday night and decided to go on a whim. The menu had changed from the previous visit and consisted of a tasting menu which we shared between the two of us. Each of the 9 plates was served by knowledgable friendly staff and were nothing short of fantastic. This place punches well above its weight and should not be missed.
We had a very nice dinner in this restaurant, a lot of gluten free opportunities. Nice music, friendly staff. Recommended!
Did "Raid the Larder" on Sunday night for the fixed price menu, where you have a choice of whatever is left in the kitchen at the end of the weekend. We arrived early to get maximum choice , around 6.30. Food was delicious and beautifully presented. Service was friendly but still very efficient and attentive. Excellent wine selection (we had the False Bay Pinotage). Super meal and great value.
Really fab food and excellent service. Definitely the best place we ate in Deal. Highly recommended
The food was cooked to order, was tasty and was beautifully presented. We had four dishes each (each was the size of a starter) which came one after the other, as four courses, so we could enjoy them and savour them. I also enjoyed a very good blackcurrant frangipan with honey and yoghurt icecream which again was beautifully presented. The waitress was friendly and delightful and had a lovely manner and we were well looked after. We had a special evening and would love to return.
I never miss the opportunity to dine at the wonderful Victuals & co. From the moment you walk in you know you are going to have a fantastic evening.
The staff as superb, the decor / lighting is spot on and the food from Chef's kitchen is incredible.
You always want to come back again.
Possibly the best steak i’ve had, ever. 50’s bloke who likes steak and has been to Argentina! Great service - off carbs at the moment so alternative was offered to complimentary bread.
Was in Deal for a few days. Restaurant was only a few doors away from where we were staying. We were lucky as it is not open every day.
Great welcome for the Sunday lunch. Waitress was friendly and attentive.
We both had a roast which was cooked to perfection with imaginative trimmings.
We both had afters. The Souflet was great with the butterscotch source.
When next in the area, this will be the number one choice.
This place is amazing, the food absolutely fantastic, would definately reckmmend
We always have a great meal here. Service is always great and really personable and the food is AMAZING. We had the lunch small plates menu which was DELICIOUS. Our dog always joins us as there a few tables at the front of the restaurant which are dog friendly. We got to meet the chefs and had a great chat with them too. If you haven’t already been go! We will be back again soon.
Excellent food, an interesting wine list and innovative flavours. Highly recommended.
Food was excellent, although we did feel the service was lacking - only due to the staff member we had was young and untrained. I can't remember the last time I had to open and poor my own bottle of £33 wine! Also the eating style was not explained so our food was all over the place. The staff were great, but basic training should be a must.
Delicious food, and fantastic value. Couldn't believe it wasn't totally full, when the food is so good (but it was a very rainy day I suppose)
Excellent service. friendly welcome, easy relaxed atmosphere. Been there before at a weekend which I found noisy and the fellow diners overbearingly "Down From London." Thursday night fine!
We eat here on a Thursday evening. We est early to it was lovely and quiet. The waitress was very helpful and the food was fabulous it was certainly a a dining experience. We enjoyed every dish that came out. The Monkfish was amazing. We will definitely recommend this restaurant and we will certainly be returning when we are next in Deal
Really enjoyed the Raid the Larder menu. The food was amazing and nothing was too much trouble for our waitress.
Tip - if going for the raid the larder menu go a bit earlier as popular dishes will sell out.
Warm welcome from friendly, professional staff, delicious and creative food combinations, imaginatively conceived and exquisitely executed. We chose the 4 and 5 dish tasting options and shared between the 2 of us. Victuals not our first dinner there and most definitely not our last. Thank you Victuals & Co.
Their Raid the Larder menu on a Sunday left us both hungry even with 3 courses. The problem being they don't serve bread/rolls on a Sunday and all the meals are very light and fairly small portions - there was not a vegetarian option as a main (pork, cod or steak) so best check before you go what the menu will be but having said that they are using up their larder so sometime meals may not be available once you are there.
The new menu providing a range of small/medium dishes is superb. There were 9 choices (excluding desert) on the menu the night we went. I can't do justice to the variety of superb dishes including cod, monkfish, vegetables, lamb, pork etching as each was cooked and presented its own lovely mix of flavours. We had 7 dishes between us and all were excellent. We also shared a dessert.
I believe that the menu changes all the time so next time we go we look forward to a whole new range of dishes.
A lovely restaurant. Food is good. The menu has changed since I last visited in the summer. I would prefer to have the option of making each plate small or large rather than being constrained to small plates, minimum of 3. That said each plate was delicious and a lot of care went into my need to be Gluten Free, thank you.
First visit and won't be the last. Excellent all round. Definitely recommend in future.
An excellent meal in all dimensions. Look forward to my next visit !
Fantastic as always but now with an amazing new menu that is exciting, intriguing and delicious 😋
first time in here although we've been trying to get here for some time, SO glad we finally made it as it was fantastic food and service! They had just changed the menu structure to somewhere between tapas and a taster menu... the food was amazing, you now choose from between 3-4 plates which are much smaller than normal meal portion size, but 3-4 each fill due up suitably. Plenty of Veggy, Fish & meat options and very well presented too!
Had a great night and would defiantly go back
A sort of small plate/ tasting menu, 3-4 dishes all delicious, nice quiet atmosphere and run by lovely people. We really enjoyed the evening.
In our humble opinion this is the best restaurant in Deal. Imaginative, creative dishes and we liked the "small plates" approach, resulting in us being able to taste the majority of the dishes.
None of the above. The interior of the restaurant is elegantly designed. It is comfortable. The menu is limited and this is the problem. Almost like a Tapas menu in that you can choose what dish you want and from any of the options. There is no a la carte menu. Payment is set for three dishes. The top praise must go to the chef. The food is delicious. Fresh, imaginative and beautifully prepared and cooked. The passion fruit soufflé is definitely a triumph. Perhaps with a larger menu the attention to detail of this smaller menu might disappear but the owners really do need to look at what is best for their business. We suggest a more flexible menu even if it means cutting a few corners. Don't lose that chef!
They were rolling out a new menu featuring tapas or smaller portion sizes tonight. The great part about that was we were able to sample more of the menu and we’re not disappointed by anything. The artichoke appetizer was decadent and the seafood was cooked to perfection. So were the venison and vegetables. We were able to sample a good portion of the menu and you still left feeling satisfied but not overly full. A wonderful choice for date night or just dinner. Don’t miss this wonderful dining experience!
Perfect evening with friends to celebrate a special Birthday. Food was amazing and staff were attentive and welcoming.
A lovely evening meal, restaurant had a great ambience, attentive and welcoming staff.
My partner and I went to Victuals&co for our 2 year anniversary, when we arrived we were greeted by the whole team of staff with the warmest welcome. They took the time to remember my name which made the whole experience very personal. We were taken up to the ‘lovers table’ and told we were the first ones to experience the seating. The table was absolutely beautiful covered in rose petals and lit with candles and fairy lights, we were also given a complimentary glass of Prosecco each. Victuals had taken the time to get us a card and wrote a sweet message for us from the staff at victuals. The table was private but not too secluded and had a beautiful view of St. George’s church. I have anxiety so we do not often go out to eat, however I felt calm all evening as the staff were so friendly. The food was absolutely perfect and we polished each course off. My partner is very particular about meat but he enjoyed the steak he had and said it was perfect, thank you for the best evening that we will never forget x
Wonderful local Deal eatery. Fresh imaginative cooking. Friendly staff. For the quality it’s good value.
My first visit to Victuals was for their Raid the Larder on Sunday evening. The staff were very welcoming and amusing - good start - and I felt they really cared about their establishment and wanted me to have a good experience with them. The food was locally sourced, plentiful and delicious. The meal was capped with a raspberry soufflé - light and memorable. The waiting staff knew their menu - another plus - and the ambience in the upstairs section cosy and almost club-like. I recommend Victuals for quality dining and a good all-round experience.
