About ROKA
The name ROKA holds deep meaning — RO represents a meeting place where food and drinks are shared with friends, while KA signifies the heat, warmth, and all-embracing energy that surrounds. The core of ROKA's cuisine is the robata grill, inspired by the fishermen of Japan's northern coastal waters who traditionally grilled their catch over charcoal on their boats and shared it using their oars.

    De kwaliteit en smaak van het eten was zeer goed, de bediening vriendelijk en attent. voldoende afstand tussen de tafels om rustig met elkaar te kunnen praten.

    Do not arrive for a pre- theatre table. They have a bottomless brunch which finishes at 5.30 and you will be surrounded by drunk, shrieking women who have had far too much to drink. It is surreal joining that environment if sober.

    The service was really good with the team providing a complimentary birthday pastry and even offered to remove the cost of a few items that did not taste great. But some of the dishes were not best value for money.

    The service was virtually non-existent. Our main course was forgotten entirely, and at no point did anyone come over to check whether our meal was satisfactory. We also had to chase staff to get a second round of drinks. The food itself was average at best, yet the prices are well above what the quality justifies. Unfortunately, this feels like a restaurant that relies on its prime location near Theatreland rather than delivering a good dining experience. In my view, it's little more than a tourist trap.

    I knew nothing of Japanese food so this was a pleasurable learning curve. By chance we ended up with a selection of foods with unusual combinations and delicious tastes. It was a memorable meal.

    Spent over an hour 30 mins waiting for my main, also waited over 20 mins to get our order taken at the start. My partner had finished her main before I got mine and at that point it was underwhelming and not great to eat. Horrible value for money won’t be going back.

    We found it incredibly loud on a Sunday as there is a special deal on starters and wine. Very difficult to have a conversation.

    excellent food as always; service was very good but they didn't bring drinks on time which was annoying and then when 2 drinks arrived instead of 1 they forgot to remove it from the bill. Sorted in the end. Usually excellent on all counts
