Teatro, or ‘theatre’ in Italian, pays homage to our restaurants location in the Calgary arts and theatre district. Celebrating 25 years in 2018, Teatro has been serving contemporary Italian cuisine in a fine dining atmosphere. Housed in the historic Dominion Bank (est.1911), our award winning wine cellar hosts over 10,000 bottles and features 1100 labels, with a focus on the fine wines of Italy and Bordeaux. Enjoy artisanal cocktails at our stylish bar, reserve a table for your next business meeting, or indulge in a 5 course Chef's Tasting Menu . We also offer both private and semi-private dining options for large groups.

    What a fun night. The food and the service were delicious. Oysters were amazing and so was the Mc fries. The short rib was delicious so tender. Bollinger Champagne 🍾 🥂 was flowing.

    I was skeptical about the fish themed dinner at first, but it was actually very good and fun, with excellent wines selected for the event.

    Thirty-three years in, Teatro still knows how to make an evening feel special. Its beautiful heritage setting hasn’t lost an ounce of charm, and the service continues to set the bar: attentive, thoughtful and free of the “lovely evening, now please vacate your table” routine that seems to plague downtown dining. We enjoyed the featured dishes, a bottle from the fall wine features and a crème brûlée that deserved its own round of applause. Everything was delicious. The birthday card waiting for my guest—simply because I’d mentioned the occasion when booking through OpenTable—was such a thoughtful touch. Someone actually read the reservation notes. Imagine that! The pleasant surprise? The total bill was not much more than Earls, with considerably more character and service that feels personal rather than rehearsed. No script, no stopwatch. Just genuine hospitality and the luxury of enjoying your evening. Teatro, please keep showing everyone how it’s done.

    The restaurant was beautiful, and the food was excellent. Our servers could not have been more attentive and helpful. The location was excellent as it was across the street from our hotel.

    A rare miss. Been going to Teatro to celebrate occasions since the late 90’s. Always great. Went yesterday to celebrate a family B-Day. Seated 3 feet from a washroom in the back corner of the restaurant. They couldn’t move us, unfortunately. Didn’t enjoy all that comes with that. They said that table was ‘assigned’ to us. We certainly didn’t ask to be sat there. Table cloth torn. They situated our wine away from the table so that they can top up the glasses; not consistent with that so we did it. No biggie but just leave the bottle on the table and I’ll take care of it. Thought Agnolotti was bland but might be subjective. Hope to be back, regardless.

    Our group had an outstanding dining experience ! Everything from the appetizers to the main entrees was superb. Loved the eggplant dish particularly. The ladies really enjoyed the Italian fish entree special of the day while the guys loved the parpedelle bolognese. And the service was both attentive and helpful. Keep up the great work!
