   We enjoyed an amazing meal with a spectacular view watching the sunset on the golf course. The location ambiance, service and food were amazing! The Fall Salad with Salmon was delicious and the salmon was cooked perfectly. The tri tip was also very good. We actually ended up going back he second night we were there and the burger and chicken wings were winners too!

   We went for our first time for a birthday lunch. The food was excellent, but the service was very slow and our waiter acted distracted most of the time. The views were beautiful and the rockers by the fireplace were very comfortable.

    Selected the Grill based on reviewed online that seemed to rave about the food. It was our first time staying at the Lodge and booked this dinner reservation in advance. The staff and restaurant ambiance were great, However the food was very mediocre, very disappointing. We asked the waiter for recommendations and my husband ordered the Ribs which were recommended. They were tender but were covered in a horrible low quality bbq sauce. I ordered the Shrimp Arabiatta which was very bland, I had to ask for chili peppers and Parmesan to add flavor. Will not return unless we have no other options.

    Run the other way!! Nothing about this grille was good except for the beer!! The fried calamari was greasy and the coating fell right off because it wasn't fried properly. The tomato soup tasted and looked like a bowl of marinara sauce, and the grilled cheese that came with it barely had any cheese on the sandwich. The hamburger came out raw and that had to go back as well. The manager was helpful and did take it off of our bill, but this is not a place to eat if you want decent or even moderate tasting food.

    Nice place for lunch. The coffee is quite good and they serve delicious sandwiches and salads. Service is exceptional. It's a busy place and a bit noisy, but you won't be pressured to leave right away. The Grille has some lovely views of the golf course and ocean. Dine outside when weather permits for a more relaxing experience.

    Seated at a great table. I had a Fall Salad with salmon. It arrived swimming in a fairly tasteless dressing. The greens were lovely and ruined. The salmon on top was sushi-like. The waitress didn't appear to check on the order. I finally found a busser. The waitress came back to apologize. Sent it back for a slight char (requested medium rare) and it came back like a brick--they didn't have the class to even fire up a new one. The waitress never returned to check on us so I just finished the salad and left it on the side. She didn't notice it until we asked for the check. My guest had a simple (and very expensive) rotisserie chicken sandwich that was tasteless and pedestrian. When she brought the check, the waitress did bring over a brownie slathered in ice cream that was not on either of our diets. I hope someone back in the kitchen enjoyed it. Stick with the burger and the Reuben.

    Three burgers ordered medium came out cooked differently - one was dry, the other two juicy. Fries could have used one more minute in the fryer. Cinnamon risk was an abomination - tasted savory and cheesy, and was clearly reheated. Food took forever to arrive. Server did his best but seemed overwhelmed. Atmosphere was nice but the layout is odd.

    The food is terrific. I'm not a "burger person" but the Drugstore Burger really delivered. The roasted veggies I had as an app (it's a side but I wanted them as a starter -- they're more economical & excellent) were delicious. Nice surprise: the onion rings (about the only deep-fried food I like) were first rate. The BIG down side: first night, we were a group dinner of 12. We asked at the start for separate checks. They said no, but we said we were from different companies, needed reimbursement, etc. They said they'd give us "some copies". OK. Check came, we just asked if they could divide the check equally by 12 persons, even though we all had different charges, and we'd figure it out from there. "I cannot do 12 separate credit card charges." What? EVERY restaurant accommodates separate checks and we asked at the start of the meal. Manager finally comes out and was "stern": "I can't ask my servers to do separate checks. This was explained when you made the reservation." (NOT SO.) It was explained that some people had alcohol, some didn't, and are from organizations that don't reimburse for alcohol, etc. A lesson to restaurants on how to spoil an experience. Worse: large group, so mandatory service charge of 20%. Typical, yet NOT accommodating -- so the service was DEFINITELY lacking. On a bill that had a $10 service charge, it's inexcusable. Moreover, in the 10 minutes spent discussing all this the manager could have just done the separate checks and had 12 happy customers, especially because the food was good -- why aggravate customers who are happy with their experience? EPIC management fail.

    We had a late dinner on the outdoor patio at the Grill. Overhead heating was perfect for a chilly night. There were also seating areas with gas fire features and a beautiful stone fireplace. Our server, Dan, was very attentive and friendly. Staff members at the Lodge at Torrey Pines were warm and welcoming. Food was delicious (the root vegetables and herbed cornbread are enough to go back for, everything else was also very enjoyable: steak and the ribs 👍 and the Jordan Pinot Noir went perfectly with the meal just as Dan recommended; chocolate layer cake with salted caramel was very good: moist but not overly dense, delicious).     We always enjoy dinner here when we are in town. Friendly servers, good wine, great food. We had the Albacore Schnitzel and it was delicious. An unusual but yummy way to serve tuna.

    Lovely dining on outdoor patio. The heaters outside are plenty and quite warm. It makes for very comfortable outdoor ambiance. Food was EXCELLENT and the service perfect.
