This was our first time at Tico’s brunch and it was great! The food and drinks selections were amazing with our favorite being the pork tacos and the pork hash. We tried a few different drinks and enjoyed them all. Service was quick and efficient and the manager David stopped by to ensure we were enjoying our afternoon. Tico’s never disappoints!
AH-MAZING! Great service. Great food. Socially distant. Bottomless Mimosas. 💜
Food was lacking flavor. Shrimp entree was a huge disappointment
Great service from Lawrence but overall some of the service was spotty. We did not receive some food that was ordered and the drinks was alright.
The food wasn’t that great to be honest. It lacked flavor because most of the ingredients on the dishes didn’t blend together. Instead you got dishes with no seasoning and the taste on individual bland ingredients.
I have eaten at Tico many times for brunch and dinner, including work and fundraising events. I cut a lot of restaurants slack because of COVID-19, but the brunch food this time was beyond lackluster. With the exception of the Mac and cheese and churros, all else lacked taste. The breakfast tacos were a joke: cold tortilla, smattering of scrambled eggs, and disproportionate twigs of cilantro (the ONLY taste). And, while I know the management is trying to safeguard its servers, the instruction to mask every time a server approached you was tedious for a tapas restaurant. The only way that works is if you bring all dishes at once rather than piecemeal. Terrible experience!
It was a great brunch but for some reason there was about an hour thst no food was brought out :(
I know it was Labor Day but something was definitely going wrong in the ktichen
The bottomless brunch is only 1.5 hours... so when no food comes for 1 hour, it makes it hard to justify a good experience
Luckily, tico made it up to use by next extending our time for food and giving us great drinks.
Staff was AWESOME. This was my second time back in a 3 week period and I’ll be back again! The food is super good and comes out piping hot
Chevelle (apologize if I’m misspelling her name) was amazing. David was also a pleasure to chat with.
Def coming back!
Been here many years ago but this time was a total disappointment. My taco was very cold and my boyfriend could not eat his shrimp dish and did not feel good after (not picky eaters). The restaurant seemed understaffed but forgot our drinks and left us without water many times. It was a bummer...
All in all no major complaints. Food was good, bottomless dishes and drinks are awesome. Service was a bit off, though, with dishes arriving late or never. Given they are operating at a reduced client capacity you would think they would be super efficient.
So glad to go back to Ticos! We really missed their food and speciality drinks. I was so impressed with their cleanliness and attention to ensuring guests are safe as this pandemic continues. David the manager was so attentive and insured guests including ourselves had a wonderful time. Stephanie was our waitress and she was fabulous – you should ask for her on your next visit. We had our favorite drink Mezcaroni and tried various dishes Which were all so great. Everything has a unique taste which makes a superb dinner. David let us sample their sushi which should be starting in September - You definitely need to try it. Fish is so fresh with a little jalapeño and roe; you can’t go wrong with any of the orders. Just thinking about the great food and service right now makes me want to go back again. This is a must try in DC and you’ll be so glad you did!
Everything was GREAT! I'll be back. Food was delicious and service was awesome. Restaurant was extremely clean.
Nothing short of amazing
Tico has been a long time favourite of mine. Did the Sunday brunch with unlimited mimosas. The food was not as good as usual, seem like everything was just slapped together. We were also charged an additional $12 for our unlimited drinks simply because we chose grapefruit juice, but were never told that it would be extra, so read the fine print.
Wonderful! Waiter was awesome, food was great, wonderful atmosphere. Little pricey for the portion size but it was delectable
We went to Tico for Summer 2020 restaurant week. The place was super clean and pretty quiet. The food was incredible, especially the corn and potato appetizers. Margaritas were also super delicious!
I thought it was a great deal and I will definitely do it again, but the 1 1/2 time limit on the brunch I think is a little too short. Especially with all the upgrades you can do to your drinks the bill racks up quick and an 1 1/2 seems like not enough time to really take your time to enjoy yourself. 2 hours I think is more fair. But whatever.
The server was great and the food was terrific.
Tico did good with the delicious food (14th street tacos were delicious), great service, and physical distancing while socializing. Great dinner outside of the house.
We went there for brunch and everything was great! The food was delicious and the service was impeccable. We all enjoyed our experience and will be back more in the future.
Great place to dine! Tables were very spaced out. Drinks and food came incredibly quick. Staff were quick to let diners know that they needed to wear a mask while going somewhere in the restaurant (which gave me peace of mind know they were doing what they could!). The tacos were great but a little small so I recommend ordering multiple for the table. Overall, a great place, great food and staff made us feel super safe.
Service wasn’t great
Perfect spot for early evening drinks + snacks! Power hour from 5pm-6pm had amazing deals, and everything was so delicious. Friendly and attentive staff and prompt service make dinner at Tico an easy choice.
Lots of blacked out patrons
Bomb food! Great service from Noah. Offered a great bang for your buck. Most importantly, I felt safe with the cleanliness/sanitation and the social spacing in the restaurant. It was COVID friendly without sacrificing on value. We will be back!
Great Service, Great Food and Amazing Drinks! I’ll be back
Tico did a great job at keeping customers a good distance away as well as maintaining a clean environment. Unfortunately, they had to alter the menu a bit because of today’s environment. The food was delicious, but I do wish they had a couple more heavier meat based items like the chicken tacos and sliders they carried before. They also introduced a nice walk up margarita bar which I hope they keep in some capacity after covid.
We had a great experience even during these Covid rimes.
Geneva and the hosts were terrific! The food was very good!
Food was decent, but the pitcher of margarita I shared with my friend was at least 2/3 ice, totally watering it down and rendering it unpalatable.
Since the “bottomless” brunch has an hour and a half time limit, great service is absolutely essential, but it’s clear that the restaurant was understaffed. Despite ordering a variety of different brunch dishes to try, our table was delivered dishes at random. Even after specifically requesting the dishes we had ordered, we continually only received other random dishes to “tide us over” until we got our real dishes. Spoiler alert—the real dishes never came. Our server was so kind and it was truly not her fault, it was clear the restaurant was severely understaffed.
Great food, service, and setting. One of my top brunch go to spots now
Everything was beyond amazing! The food was awesome and the service was great! I can’t wait to go back!
This review is a little biased since we went the day DC announced the COVIN restaurant restrictions. So there was hardly a soul in the restaurant. I feel like due to this - we really received the best experience and the attention to all the rules and regulations but still offering exceptional service was top notch.
Birthday. Everybody ordered the bottomless food and drink so they brought out everything “family style” which means they just went down the menu and brought about a bunch of small plate food. They kept the carafes of mimosas and margaritas full at all times. Great food.
Food was terrible and sloppily thrown together. Long delays and gaps in service. Over priced menu for what is basically children’s tapas. Loud, obnoxious atmosphere.
Great for Brunch :)
All I will say is Lawrence!!!!
Service was fantastic, however food was a little disappointing compared to some other restaurants in the surrounding area with similar food. It was still good but not great.
Had a large party and reservation but still waited forever for our table and staff did not communicate or handle appropriately
