Tabachoy is a Tagalog nickname given to a friend or family member; it means chubby or fatty. We know it sounds mean, but Filipinos give each other inappropriately appropriate nicknames all the time. Your baby brother’s got some neck rolls? Tabachoy. Auntie’s six months pregnant? Tabachoy. Or your dad’s got a six pack, but just finished his third piece of bibingka? Tabachoy! We cook the food that got us made fun of in elementary school, when we opened our country crock “Tupperware” - the food that reminds us of home. We don't strive to make a better adobo than your mothers, but we do want to share ours with you.

At Manong, we celebrate the flavors, memories, and warmth of Filipino-American cooking through the lens of a nostalgic neighborhood grillhouse. Inspired by the energy of classic ’90s sit-down restaurants, we blend comfort, playfulness, and tradition in a space designed to feel familiar the moment you walk in. From ihawan-style skewers and savory silog plates to blooming mushrooms, burgers on soft pandesal-style buns, and sweet finishes like ube ice cream, our menu brings together the dishes we grew up with and the comfort food we’ve always loved.Located in Philadelphia’s Fairmount neighborhood, Manong is more than a restaurant — it’s a gathering place. Our roomy dining room, full bar, and market featuring house-made goods create an experience that’s welcoming, fun, and rooted in community. Whether you’re here for a family meal, a night out, or a taste of something both nostalgic and new, we invite you to sit back, relax, and enjoy the flavors that feel like home.
