In 1976 Michael Garman returned to Brighton and opened IL Bistroafter being inspired by the Italian and French culture and cuisineduring his travels to the Provence and the western coast of Italy.His goal was to open Brighton’s first Mediterranean steakhouse.For the first time, Brightonians were able to order fresh pasta,arancini, dry aged beef, tiramisu and negronis.50 years later and now owned by Michael's son Abe,IL Bistro still stands by the same principles, using local suppliersand produce, fresh and seasonal ingredients and the best available dryaged British beef. A very enjoyable quick meal on a Wednesday evening in what is a very Italian feeling restaurant. Service was good and the dishes were tasty and filling ; we did not explore the main courses on the menu relying on staters and pasta but in the diary for an early return to sample more of the extensive menu.

The pizza base & crust are the best. So delicious. Accompanied with the Sauvignon blanc which was so delicious. It was a great meal. I do believe this is the best pizza in town.

Anniversary meal so knew we were going to enjoy this and the food was amazing. Had every style of prawn, padron peppers, pimiento, albondigas, tuna salad, a meze of bread and oils etc. Waitress was lovely, was concerned that we might have ordered too much which was nice but we hadn’t eaten all day due to this extravaganza of eateries. Smashed the lot and felt very fat so a perfect meal. Will be returning
