Stark is located in East Mersea, Essex and is owned and run by Ben and Sophie Crittenden, who opened their first site in Broadstairs back in December 2016 with the aim of securing a better work/life balance and enabling Ben to enjoy more time with their three young children, Ivy, Rosa and Arlo. Before relocating to Mersea Island, Stark was the only Michelin-starred restaurant in Thanet and one of five in the whole of Kent.At Stark, only one, set tasting menu is served with no options or alternatives available. Because of this, Stark is unable to cater for any allergies or dietary requirements, for any reason as all guests eat the exact same meal each night. The Last is a wine bar and restaurant on St Georges Street, Norwich. Our kitchen holds two AA Rosettes. The building was once the largest women’s shoe factory in Britain — for decades, craftsmen shaped wooden lasts here, the forms around which every shoe was built. Precise, purposeful objects. We have tried to honour that in everything we do.The Last has been part of Norwich’s dining and drinking scene for over thirty years. It is now in the hands of Sebastian Taylor, who has returned home to Norwich after a career that culminated in a decade at The Ritz in London. Family owned, independently run, and genuinely invested in this city.The building has its own story. In 1909 it was described in the press as the largest boot and shoe factory under one roof in the kingdom. A last is the mould from which shoes and boots are formed — from the old English word laest, meaning footprint. It felt like the right name for a place that intends to leave one.

My partner is gluten free and vegetarian, and they made a distinct menu for her that was just as good as ours. Excellent staff, both fun and attentive. For the money (we had two bottles of wine and a cocktail) it was really one of a kind.
