Terroni Adelaide, formerly the York County Courthouse, is a multi-level heritage structure built in 1852. Just inside the doors is the Enoteca with its towering columns, a great spot for cocktails. Beyond, is the main dining room, with a sunlit atrium, fireplaces on each end, and private rooms all serviced by an open kitchen where our chefs prepare traditional Italian fare. In the summer, the secret garden patio opens for al fresco dining in the heart of the city.Head down to the Cantina Wine Cellar where you will see the original courthouse cells now used to store our Italian wine. The second floor houses the grand Sala da Pranzo and Bar delle Carceri, named after the cells below. Bar Vendetta distinguishes itself in a space that had previously been a fairly iconic restaurant, The Black Hoof, with a beautiful (and imposing) Douglas fir ‘glass canopy’ and a completely different, 70s colour scheme, modelled (very loosely) on Jen's teen basement bedroom in Scarborough. Nothing says 70s like brown, orange and cream! We didn’t want it to scream ‘Italian restaurant’ because frankly it’s only Italian-ish, using the philosophies of Italian cooking with locally available ingredients, a strong devotion to seasonality, and all pastas made in house. The sort of secret treehouse-feeling back patio is hugely popular in the summer, but we think of it as the perfect restaurant for a colder evening, cozy for tucking into a beautiful plate of pasta, with one of your favourite songs playing while you have a very nice Italian red.

    This was the best Italian restaurant I have ever been to. I am actually going back there on Monday with my sister who is visiting from Ottawa and a friend. They have never been there before. Looking forward to it

    Made it for the tail end of Happy Hour. Great selection of cocktails and apps. For dinner we got the 3 pastas and shared them. All very diverse in flavour and delicious. We were there for a birthday and the Chef took the time to come ask us how we liked the meal. Have been before and will be back again!
