Welcome to the new Martha’s Vineyard Chowder Company at 14 Kennebec Avenue in Oak Bluffs.We can only take reservations for group of 4 or fewer. Can’t find a reservation? Please come anyway! We only reserve about 50% of our tables online and have 20 bar seats, so most of our seating is saved for walk-in guests.We’ve traded our larger space for a smaller, and more intimate, newly built 53-seat restaurant and bar, creating an even better place to enjoy the authentic Vineyard experience.Home to our award-winning chowder, often called the best in New England, we serve fresh local seafood when available, lobster favorites, steaks, all-natural chicken, and craft cocktails.If your party will be more than 5 minutes late please text 508-696-3000. Due to our limited seating, late arrivals may forfeit their table. Please cancel reservations online. A $20 per person charge applies to all no-shows. Located in an historic whaling captain\'s mansion built in 1831, the dining room and lounge are below street level and have an updated colonial atmosphere. Tall windows along two walls let in the summer breezes and let escape the sounds of happy conversation. This restaurant is a very good choice for an evening out with friends, and there are cozy, intimate alcoves for more romantic encounters. American/French cuisine is featured, with everything freshly prepared on the premises. Chef Mark Gottwald's food is bold and flavorful, and presented with understated elegance. Dinner menu selections include lobster, calamari, crab cakes, salmon, prawns, chicken, duck, beef, and lamb. Only the freshest ingredients are used. Members of our restaurant staff have been part of the Ships Inn family for an average of seven years or more.
