I was in Anaheim for a convention and ended up dining at Poppy & Seed twice in six days. It was that good. On my first visit, I opted for the tasting menu with the wine pairing. The experience was so memorable that I returned a five days later intending to order a couple of my favorite dishes from the regular menu, specifically the steak tartare and scallops. However, after settling in with a cocktail, I found myself unable to resist. The tasting menu was simply too good not to experience again. Each of the six courses was exceptional. The steak tartare, served over a thin layer of charred eggplant, had a subtle smokiness and richness that elevated the dish in a way I hadn't encountered before. The scallops were equally impressive. Accompanied by charred corn and a corn velouté, the dish delivered a combination of flavors that was both unexpected and outstanding. I've had countless scallop dishes over the years, and this one truly stood out. The service was fantastic. Sitting at the bar, I was well taken care of by Phylicia and Chris, who were attentive, friendly, and clearly passionate about what they do. The three cocktails I tried were unique, well-balanced, and perfectly crafted. What also impressed me was the teamwork. Although I sat at the bar, many different members of the service team delivered courses, thoughtfully described each dish, and often returned later to ask what I thought. It was clear that the staff genuinely enjoy both their work and working alongside one another. Chef Michael Reed even stopped by and, after learning I had visited just five days earlier, remarked that he would have altered a few of the courses to create a different experience. While I chose to enjoy the menu as presented, that level of thoughtfulness speaks volumes about the restaurant's commitment to its guests.

If the weather is cooperative, hard to beat the location, view and great staff. First time visitor, when back in Anaheim, I'll be a repeat visitor.

Was a great experience. Sat on the patio so noise really wasn't an issue and the service was relaxed and top notch!
