Established in 1976, Kamei Royale was the first Japanese restaurant to introduce the now famous BC Roll and various original sushi dishes found in Vancouver. Presenting the largest counter-top sushi bar and an exhilarating Robata grill showcasing the chef's skills.

Kamei Royale has renovated and renewed itself again in 1990. Bringing forth a brand new bar lounge and Tatami rooms the massive floor space can easily accommodate up to 200 tour groups. Also, with the karaoke lounge now bustling, everyone can enjoy our popular drinks and dishes while singing away to the latest songs ranging from every corner of the planet!

As a former commercial fisherman and owner of a seafood processing business, I am quite fussy about the seafood that we eat. Kamei Royale was absolutely fantastic. Seafood was amazing, so delicious and presented beautifully. My girlfriend has some severe food allergies which can make dining out challenging at times. I called ahead and the staff were so helpful and accommodating. It wasn't just our server, but every server in the restaurant who came by were aware and made excellent suggestions which were safe for her to eat. Sometime you can get a bit of impatience or even an eye roll when asking servers a question about allergies at some places. Not here, they were so kind, wonderful, and thoughtful, it was a unique and fantastic experience. Our new favourite place!!

Have not been to this restaurant in years and was the first time visiting it since it moved locations. Food, venue, etc all has drastically gone downhill vs the old location. Will be the last time I dine here.

Found this place just by looking around and was a great find! Food and choices are plentiful and what I ate was really good. Love also the set choices. Will come again when visiting for sure!

Amazing food, respectful and friendly staff. Never in all of my restaurant visits have I ever had the server, get on the floor to level the wobbly table and made sure it wasn’t wobbly. And she kept apologizing. And she was in her traditional wear. I told her we greatly appreciated what she did as no one usually does that.

The restaurant was busy during lunch time but we were seated quickly. Their menu was somewhat limited but prices were reasonable. We had the unagi sushi boat with tempura and salmon aburi, everything tasted good and fresh. We were mostly happy but the staff were eager to take our plates so that I felt that we were being rushed to leave. I would come back to this Japanese restaurant if I were in the area again.

This is a solid affordable sushi option in downtown Vancouver. The consistency in quality of the food is high, service has always been good, and prices offer excellent value. They ran out of the salmon belly at dinner time but the chirashi was excellent.

One of the best Japanese meals I have had in a very long time. I'm Japanese and I know my Japanese food! The chawanmushi was terrific and everything else we had that night was really authentic. It's not easy to make a ton of different Japanese dishes and have them not all sort of end of tasting salty or more or less the same - because many of the sauces have overlapping ingredients, but Kamei did a great job and everyone really enjoyed their choices. Very flavorful, food served hot (which is also important!) and we would definitely come again. From out of town and it was a very nice dinner.
