We planned a special Valentine's Day dinner at the Mesquite Grill and showed up to a line of people waiting for their tables. We waited 45 minutes past our reservation time and were then seated. Due to short staffing at the restaurant, we were not waited on at all for another 20 minutes and finally got our food at 8:40 for a 7:00 reservation. My husband ordered a rack of lamb that was 2 scrawny bones with some meat at the end of the bones (a rack of lamb really?!!). Otherwise the food was fine but the service was horrible and the restaurant did not do anything to make up for the poor service. I am not sure I'd return to give them a second try......

Unfortunately, the restaurant had a staffing issue. They let us know this as we arrived. Nevertheless, we were there for 2.5 hours. With such a small restaurant, 15 tables, we felt the two servers could handle with reasonable delay. We were offered one round of beverages after 45 minutes. Never offered a second round in 2.5 hours. Never asked it we wanted desert. They ran out of iced tea at 8:00 and offered no alternative. Food arrived after 1:45 hours and the fish was dry and way over cooked. No offer of a salad, bread or any other side. Sorry they had a staffing issue, but they didn’t seem to manage it very well either. They didn’t charge us for our one round of beverages. The very least they could do for sure.

We had a 6:30 reservation for Valentine’s Day dinner. They had limited servers and it took us over an hour to get an appetizer, which was a plate with two small crab cakes. It then took over another hour to get our meal. The scallops were over cooked and rubbery, but the one skewer of shrimp was ok. During this time, one couple just got up and left. The rest of us were just left shaking our heads. Overall, $100+ for a very mediocre dinner. Would not recommend.

We went there on Valentines Day, which was probably a big mistake. After making the reservation, the owner called to verify our reservation and he assured us we would absolutely love the restaurant. Based on that I was sort of excited. We arrived at 6:25 for our 6:30 reservation. The place was pretty full and there were only 3 table open. We were seated and a few minutes later we were told there would be a wait. We ordered our drinks and then placed our order when they were served. We ordered some crab cake appetizer and salads. About 30 minutes later our crab cakes were given to the table next to us that arrived after we did. About 15 minutes later our salads arrived and about 30 minutes later our crab cakes arrived. The crab cakes were good but at $12 for 2 rather small crab cakes it was overpriced. We ordered two of the higher end seafood dishes with an extra order of 1 lb of king crab legs ($28) which arrived about 30 minutes later. The salmon, scallops and shrimp were over seasoned and over cooked. The crab legs were a real disappointment as they were overcooked and tasted like smoke rather than crab and were cold. Someone seated next to us said there's no way they were king crab legs. After that we did order some dessert which was the best part of the entire meal probably because they were made ahead of time. While there we watched one couple just walk out and not return and another table threatened to leave because it was taking so long. When we got our check I looked at my watch and noticed we'd been there 2 hours and 40 minutes.

After I booked my reservations for the evening, I received a call from the restaurant verifying the reservation. Once we arrived at the restaurant we were greeted with smiles at the door and was taken to our seats immediately. The service was great especially with a busy restaurant that evening. We started with the crab cakes, which were amazing! My date ordered the Chowder soup and I had a house salad to follow the crab cakes while our food was being prepared, and the chowder was pretty awesome as well. For our main entrees, she had one of the gyros and rice, and I’ll be honest it was great! For my entree I ordered the fried catfish and Cajun fries, only bc I haven’t found a good place out in the Denver area that had good catfish. I’m from South Arkansas and I’ll be a bit bias about the catfish, but the fried catfish here was worth buying. It is definitely a southern battered catfish with good flavor! We will be coming back to this restaurant again!

Wendy and Robert are such gracious hosts! We had an excellent meal (walleye & Salmon) accompanied by a delightful wine. We capped off the evening with desert, one of us opting for the key lime pie. Delicious! The only negative? The room was a bit warm, wondering if the AC was out? A hidden gem in Greenwood Village!
