I have been enjoying joining a friend for lunch at Paul Martin's in San Mateo, Cal for a number of years and we are both very disappointed that the restaurant is closing. Having said that, the food and the ambiance are welcoming and we have enjoyed ourselves immensely there over the years. We want to make a call-out and offer special thanks for the very professional and friendly wait staff there - it's clear they all work well as a team and they have consistently made us feel welcome and well taken care of. They even remember, without being prompted, what our favorite items are and anything special that we have requested in the preparation and serving - which makes us feel very special. We will honestly miss seeing them and hope that the management team is supporting them in their professional transitions. We hope to welcome you back to the San Francisco Peninsula at some point. Thank you for very rewarding dining experiences!!

Even on their next-to-last day of operation, the Hillsdale Paul Martin offered a flawless dining experience! For our swansong meal there, we had ribeyes all around! Juicy and delicious, they arrived accompanied by some excellent mashed potatoes. We started off with a garden salad which was always one of my favorites there, because of all the goodies in it - purple onion, cucumber and avocado, and mixed grape tomatoes cut in half. Our waiter was very nice and gave us wonderful service! We will truly miss you, Laul Martin’s. I hope you are able to find another property in San Mateo to occupy!

The restaurant was nearly empty when we arrived. The staff was friendly. We ordered the French Dip and a hamburger. The hamburger was so messy with sauce it was hard to eat. It was “everywhere.” The French Dip was flavorless, bun not toasted. Everything needed salt for the French Dip. So disappointing. We were there for a Saturday lunch. The menu is really limited. We will not be returning.

Fantastic dinner. We all ordered the halibut and it was delicious! Loved the Cajun fries and the Spicy Shrimp. And the desserts were just as good: chocolate cake and cheesecake. So sorry to see this restaurant come to a close. Lots of good times and good eats at Paul Martin’s in San Mateo.

So sorry to hear this restaurant will be closing soon. We had a really great dinner here this evening, as with all the other times we've visited. Really a treasure that San Mateo will be losing.

We went on a Saturday and the menu did not offer many choices. No crab cake appetizer, no pastas, chicken parm etc. We enjoyed the Shrimp appetizer, the Cobb salads were were fresh, loaded with protein and delicious. Burger was a perfect medium well. The server was excellent
