After coming to Posillipos for quite a few years now, it never fails to deliver. The specials are great but that does means foregoing their standard menu items and makes it so difficult to choose! My husband's bistecca steak was huge and did not fail on succulence and taste. This means sometimes not having room for pudding. A fantastic place, long may it continue.

I had booked a table at Posillipo for lunch as a treat for my son's 4th birthday as a friend had recommended it. We booked the table 2 weeks ahead for lunch at midday. We arrived at midday and were shown probably the worst table in the restaurant. I asked if we could have one with a seaview but were told there was a large group coming so we couldn't have one. Fair enough but there was no apology - just a rather grumpy waiter who could barely make eye contact. We sat down and ordered our food. 30 minutes later - with a bored 8-month-old and a hungry 4-year-old - we asked if we could have some breadsticks until the starters came out. The waiter said they didn't do them but he could bring us some bread immediately. Another 5 minutes went by and eventually the bread came out. Then another 5 minutes went by and I asked how long the starters were likely to be. The waiter looked uncomfortable and said he'd just spoken to the kitchen and they were just getting ready but he wasn't sure how long it would be until it opened. Unbelievable! We asked why they hadn't thought to tell us that the kitchen wasn't even ready until we'd been waiting for 40 minutes and had actually asked. He didn't offer any sort of apology but just looked slightly awkward. We walked out. What's worse is that when we sat down at our table another family had walked in about 5 minutes later. The waiter said they could have a table but it was only available for an hour. The family took the table and said 'we won't take long'. I have no idea if they even got to have their starters before being asked to vacate their table - we'd already left.

Posillipo is a must do in Broadstairs. On this occasion we had a wonderful lunch out on the back deck in the sun. The specials that day were delicious, breasola wrapped goats cheese & candied walnuts with artichoke puree followed by crab in a brandy cream sauce and they were able to do a gluten free pasta for me. Service as always was excellent.

Have dined in Posillipos many times and we're never disappointed. Always busy in the evenings so I'd advise booking. Warmly welcomed by attentive staff. Seating can be a little cramped as tables are close but that kind of adds to the atmosphere. Food is super, authentic Italian, tasty and plentiful. Our favourites are the calamari and borbone starters and then any pasta dish. I also enjoy the salmon and gamberoni lemon main with chilli and garlic spinach. The pizzas are also fabulous, nice light, thin bases and super toppings. Good wine list, too...we usually are too full for puddings, but these are also worth trying! Go there!
