The spirit of Johnny’s restaurateur father, the original Alteño, is felt in the very soul of the restaurant.The campestre influence woven throughout Alteño is inspired by Johnny’s childhood spent in the mountainous region of Los Altos, known for its rolling hills, historic colonial architecture, and wild, untamed land.     Great experience at chef bar. Innovative cocktails with fun riffs on classics. Each dish was texturally complex and had interesting but balanced flavor complexity with sour, spicy, sweet combinations. Highly recommended.

    Everything was a delight. Our favorites were the Ny strip taco and the sweet potato appetizer (spicy!) but the caesar was also a fun surprise. It was big and had more of a honey mustard dressing with a caesar tang but still delicious.

    The most unique Mexican food we have ever had. The rellenos and haddock dishes were superb. Highly recommend this restaurant run by Chef Oscar.

    Wow! We had the best service, the ambiance is amazing, they have a great Happy Hour 3-6, including mocktails, and you can't go wrong with any of their tacos. I had the Birriaha (sp?) and my friend the pork shoulder and we were both blown away. It's no wonder this restaurant has a bib gourmand Mich Star recommendation!
