Before there was a hotel, there was a saloon. In 1852, thousands of thirsty prospectors filled their glasses at the original Golden Gate Saloon. After Grass Valley was destroyed by a fire in 1855, the owners quickly adapted and sold whiskey and beer to loyal customers from a tent among the rubble the next day.     We had a great birthday dinner for our son! Our waitress, Johna, was really friendly and polite. She always asked if we needed anything else. Towards the end of our dinner it was getting cold for many of us at our table. The 2 rollup doors were open to the back deck. This is an open air restaurant. Great views if you come during the day!

    This was an amazing experience. It was my sister's birthday and we all had a great time. The staff was friendly and very attentive with the bottomless mimosa. We are going back again for sure.
